Rayan’s airship descended from the sky towards the city of Dathomir, the capital of the dry desert country of Stiza. Rayan had left Puralgatha an hour ago after meeting the mage Adriel. He was here to complete the process of founding his freelance clan. Its purpose would be to gather warriors from all of Fyia to fight against the Urgidon army; for pay, of course. Essentially, it would be a ‘band of mercenaries’ fighting together in the war that was preparing to launch.
Rayan landed the airship in the docking bay of the building he had rented out for the purpose of using it for the clan. It was an enormous two-story building that took up almost a block of its own on the city streets. He and Adriel exited the airship and looked about the building.
“This facility will do well for a center establishment” Adriel said graciously.
“Yes, it will indeed. All it really lacks is the actual training equipment, weaponry, and clan members. This will be where everyone will train, eat and sleep. All that’s really left for me to do is sent out the advertisements…and hope that someone will actually come.”
Rayan spent the next few hours completing the mandatory administrative details of founding his establishment: He put ads all over the Internet, contacted various commercial industries and purchased the equipment needed for the training of clan members, housing needs, food supplies, and everything else that Rayan thought would be of importance. The advertisements he had sent out read:
Clan Thyconis: Freelance establishment. Mercenaries, fighter pilots, and skilled fighters wanted. Clan members receive the benefit of pay upon the completion of each mission assigned to the clan. Contact clan leader Rayan Stiger in Dathomir City or via the Internet for details on job opportunity. --Rayan Stiger, clan founder 3/13/2536 Rayan had purposefully left out some details because he didn’t want any potential enemies hunting him down to kill him. He figured that the people that read the ad who really wanted to join would be willing to ‘search around’ a bit for the details. Finally, after spending so much time getting everything ready, Rayan sat down at a desk near the front entrance to the building he had rented and waited to see if anyone would show up. He felt that it was kind of stupid to expect people to join so quickly, but then again, he didn’t really have anything else to do at the moment, either.
I wonder if anyone will ever come at all…maybe then I can get off the hook with Puralgatha’s government. Wait, no…they’d force me to join their army then. That’s exactly what I don’t want to have happen. Somebody better show up soon…

Later that night there was a sandstorm blowing in, it was one that left as fast and mysteriously as it came. Amongst the blowing sand there was a figure that could be made out in the distance walking towards the city. As he drew nearer he could see that everyone was inside from the sandstorm. There was no welcoming for this newcomer to the town, noone was there to see him come to this city of Dathomir.
The man's cape could be seen blowing in the wind, he was carrying a bag over his shoulder which the contents were unkown. The man was wearing a black tux, a cape, and a small little white mask that covered only his eyes. He was wearing the clothes he had on from his last performace from a traveling show which dropped him off a mile away from the city.
He walked through the city, only able to make out the outlines of the buildings around him, the wind was blowing ferociously preventing him from reading the signs of the buildings that he walked by. He figured best to go into the nearest building to wait for the storm to pass the city so he could get situated. He took a right and walked to the building's door, but before he did he stopped. He took off the mask he had been wearing and looked at it, he laughed then let it go to be carried in the wind. He turned and opened the door to thes two story building and walked in, he brushed himself off. As soon as he got in the storm died down. He looked up and saw a man sitting down at a desk who looked anxious.

Seeing the man come into the town, Gai hurried off from the shadows and continued his search for Rayan.I must be the first to sign up for this clan thing of his. he thought to himself as he tried to pinpoint his brain waves. "Alright, anytme now." he said to himself as he walked into a building to get out of the oncoming storm. It was when he looked up at the person at the desk to pay them did he relize who it was.
"Rayan!! I've been lookin' for you forever now. I've come to sign up for your clan. I think Shimmer will be behind me sometime. I couldn't wait for her.'What dresses should I bring?' stuff like that and you know I'm bad with things like that." he said as he sat down next to his friend.
"I've come to give you my blades and arrows. And if need be...my life. I wil fight along side with you until ever last breath in my body is spent." he said as he offered his hand to Rayan."So, where do I sing up?" he said with a grim look on his face. This was one of the few times that he was ever serious. But when it came to helping out a good friend like Rayan, he would do anything for him

Rayan snapped out of his bored trance at the sound of his friend’s voice. Rayan looked up and smiled slightly as he sat up straight in his chair.
“Gai! I had quite forgotten about you! I didn’t expect you to come looking for a job from me…I’m so unworthy of your kindness…thank you.” Rayan reached out and shook Gai’s hand firmly. Gai’s hand felt more toughened and solid than Rayan’s more gentle hand. Rayan wondered momentarily how his girlfriend Shimmer could stand holding his sandpaper-like hands. Then again, I bet she doesn’t care if his hands are a bit too firm…his honorable character more than makes up for it.
“Well old buddy, it looks like you’re the second one to join! Just fill out these papers here, and you’re officially in. These papers contain information such as name, age, race, gender, battle records, abilities, and any other information you want to add. I have to make dossiers of every clan member so I can keep them all straight, and consider each one’s unique powers and such. Oh, while you’re at it, try not to be overly serious! I know that you respect me deeply and that you care a lot about this, but try to lighten up a bit for now, okay? I’d like to have as cheerful an atmosphere as possible while we talk. There certainly isn’t much else to do until more people join…speaking of which…”
Rayan stopped conversing as soon as he saw the man standing there silently in the doorway. Looking him over carefully, Rayan realized that he was a magician by trade. What is he doing here? Rayan thought, perplexed at why someone like him would come looking to join his clan. I don’t know why he would want to join, or what he could do to in combat. Unless…well, he could make our enemies disappear. That would be cool. Still, I dunno about how useful he will be. But then again, I haven’t seen what he can do. It’s best not to judge a book merely by its cover…or in this case, a man by his tux.
“Greetings, sir. Are you here to consider joining Clan Thyconis? Please do come in; make yourself as comfortable as you please” Rayan said to him. “Care to tell me about yourself or why you’re here?”

D lounged in a chair at the Olmen city bar, reclined in a big chair with his feet up on a oak stool that sat next to him. The bartender had just informed him of an ad he saw on one of the remaining computors in the city, which was requesting a host of fighters. D was in a pickle, and had fighting thoughts in his head.
Hmm... do i dare help these people, I've not done many jobs with others. But it could help me get stronger in order to defeat that beastly Zagur...
The two thoughts of his pride were duking it out in his head, but he finally gave into the secound, with the exception of corse, that he would kill anyone who got in his way even if they were in this band of fighters. The latter choice was what he decided was best for his image, he was humiliated by that man, and although not many knew of this encounter, he would do anything to "put Zagur back in his place."
D rose from his reclined position and walked towards the door, flipping a coin to the bartender for the information as he neared the exit. D mounted his dark stede and rode off towards the country of stiza.
~A WHILE LATER~
After felling many monsters and wild beasts D came to Stiza and began to head towards the capital.

The man was busy brushing off the sand on his clothes and in his hair when he realised that the guy who got up from the desk was talking to him. He looked up at man a bit embarassed. He set down the bag of things he was carrying, which made a big thud when it hit the floor, you could tell there was metal objects in the bag.
Man "Well my name is Acturis and I've come to this town looking for some work. Actually I got here after hitch hiking from a traveling show, I did a little show for them and they took me all the way to the city's outskirts. I'm sorry to dissappoint you but I stopped doing mercanary work a long time back due to many circumstances, its not I wasn't good enough just some things that happened. Because of that I gave it up and became a magician, so I wont be able to help you out. I only came in here to get out of the sandstorm."
Acturis could tell that the man wasn't expecting that type of reply to his question, and Acturis was sorry to dissappoint him but he did make a promise to himself that he had kept a very long time. Acturis wanted to say something to not seem so impolite, "Maybe if things were different I could help you out, again sorry to dissappoint you."

D's horse gingerly trotted up to the first building he saw, it was a store. He than passed a few more things, a market that sold jars, fish, melons and many other interesting foods and pottery. But these were not the things that D had desired, he wanted to find the clan.
After searching about half of the buildings D came upon a wharehouse that had few people in it, one witha mask and a tuxido, another who looked like a leader, and another who seemed to be a great warrior.
[glow=silver,2,300]Does this happen to be where Rayan Stiger and his clan are gathering?[/glow]
The man who D assumed was Rayan nodded his head. After seeing that D got off his horse and replied with a quick blunt. [glow=silver,2,300]Good. I am yours to command.[/glow]

Rayan put his hand to his forehead and shook his head slowly. Great…just what I don’t need-someone who’s in my establishment, but isn’t here to join the clan. Maybe I can convince him to join anyway…I mean, really, what else does he have to do?
“Well, Mr. Acturis, that is most unfortunate” Rayan began. He made a smile grow from his lips in an attempt to not appear unfriendly or dissatisfied in any way. “Anyway, I suppose it would only be courteous of me to let you weather the sandstorm in my headquarters. Make yourself comfortable.” Rayan pulled a chair out a few feet in front of his desk for Acturis to sit in.
“Well, since you’re going to be here for awhile, perhaps we could get to know each other a bit, since we will be sharing each other’s company? If you would be so kind, sir, would you possibly fill me in a bit more on why you quit mercenary life and became a magician?” Rayan said to him in his best business-type voice. He was trying to drop subtle hints to convince Acturis to join; slowly weaken his resolve until the magician was won over. Rayan sat there looking at up at Acturis, smiling, with his hands gently folded.
Before Acturis had given him a reply, the mercenary D walked into the clan HQ and asked Rayan if this was where the clan was gathering. Rayan nodded.
Wow…he sure looks tough. I can’t wait to see him make sparks fly in battle.
“Here, just sign this and you’re in” Rayan said, handing him the papers. “Nothing complex…I just want to know something about every clan member. You don’t have to share any information that you don’t want to, though. No pressure.”

Matt walked in joyfully hand in hand with Aran. He was so enthusiastic he was practically pulling Aran. He waved to Rayan with his free hand. He smiled happily.
"Hey Rayan...I heard about your offer. I take it I don't have to sign anything..."
He waved his hand in an away motion in pride.
"Oh!!! Look who's back!"
He turned towards Aran and smiled happily.
"I think I have told you about her.....You two have never met though. Aran this is Rayan, my best friend. Rayan this is Aran, whom you already know who she is."
He left the two for a second to walk over to D.
"Heh...I'm glad you came. I was hoping you would. I couldn't beat you....that intrigues me.... I hope we get the chance to go at it again. You hear for the training or the money? You don't seem like the type driven by greed."

Acturis was glad that the man interupted the conversation because he wanted to think about what he would like to say to this man that sat infront of him. Sure he could tell him everything but most likely he'll give him limited information unless aksed otherwise.
Acturis waited for the man, whose name seemed to be Rayan, to finish talking with the others who just came in. He waited to see what they were like, they seemed different, which he liked, colorful people were never boring. Acturis looked up at Rayan who was, despite all the interuptions, still sitting there waiting for a straight answer.
Acturis "Well becoming a magician was more of being at the right place at the right time after a show. I was doing a janitorial job becuase I had quiet being a mercanary, not that I needed money I just wanted to do something with my life and I had to start somewhere. While cleaning up after a show I met the magician who had just performed and taught me realy magic, not the fake garbage. As for me being a mercanary I was a mercanary since I was a little kid. It was the family bussiness, thats how we got around, I've been to every continent. But because of the job I have no real home town so I'm sort of the guy that'll wander around not able to settle down. I use....sorry used a blended techniques of old weapons like swords to new weapons like automatic rifles. Now I'm just trying to get around with finding something to do, become something meaningful." He left out the reason why he left the mercanary bussiness for a reason.

Rayan stood up instantly at the sight of his good friend Matt. He walked over to him with a beaming smile lighting up his face. He reached out, shook his hand and welcomed him to the clan.
“Matt! I was hoping that you’d join. You never did finish that last job I gave you…you know, with Renim…anyway, there’s no need for you to sign any papers I suppose…Oh yes, it is my pleasure to meet you, Miss Aran. I have heard so much about you from Matt; about Sparka and such things like that. I hope that we will become good acquaintan-… “
Rayan froze stiff as he extended his hand towards her. His eyes scanned her fearfully; he began to shake slightly and knotty in his throat. Never…met before, he says…I have met her, once.
Rayan’s thoughts flooded back to that dreadful day when he had faced a powerful and possessed Aran. He remembered how frightfully powerful she was-he had fired his plasma rifles at her for one whole straight minute in self defense; she had blocked his blasts with her protective aura. She had taunted him, saying that she would slowly destroy him…
Rayan’s hand itched to reach for his plasma autorifles, but he refused to yield. …No…must resist…she’s not evil now! Gah! Rayan’s chest began to pump heavily and his breathing became labored. He clutched his chest with his hand, trying to remove the pain. The evil blade Matt had in his belt was vibrating, resonating evil waves into Rayan. He fell to his knees and clenched his teeth in pain.
“Matt…make it stop…please…” he choked out. He began to wrench his chest tighter than before as beads of sweat poured down his face. …My…energy wound…it’s reacting to something… By this time, Rayan lacked strength even to speak. All he could do was motion frantically to Matt’s belt, where the evil blade gleamed menacingly.

Matt was over talking to D when he heard the choking sound. He turned around to see a distraught Aran and a dying Rayan. He looked down at his belt and noticed the demon sword.
"Oh no! You have met her! It was back then!"
He quickly grabbed the sword at his belt and held it up not knowing what to do with it. His eyes suddenly narrowed and he put the sword back in his belt. He walked over to Rayan and spoke firmly.
"Ray! Get a hold of yourself! All you need to do is fight it....you are more powerful then this stupid parasite. The thing tried to take over my body and I beat it. Aran beat it too. You can also beat this. Its all in your head!"
He looked at Rayan hoping he could hear him.

Finishing up his form for the clan. He put in his experience, and his background on his battle styles. He also put down his intrests being: Shimmer, food, sleep and food. When he had finished he looked up to see many new people there.
"Hey, Matt!! It's good to see you again." he said as he beamed over to his friend. It was when helooked behind him towards Rayan was it that he saw Aran, the first villian he had ever incountered. "wut's she doin' here? he asked Matt as he walked over to her to be nice. He would atleast try to be her friend. "Hello...Aran. I hope I kind you well and in good humor." he said with a somewhat forced smile, trying his hardest to nit be mean.
"Rayan, will you introduce me to the rest of the crew seeing as we'll be together for a while now." he said as he looked over at D, and Acturis. "Oh, you're a magician? Can I see a trick? I love magic." he said as he began to jump up and down and act like a little kid.
After about five minutes, Gai got ahold of himself and calmbed down."Sorry about that. I just couldn't help myself. sometimes you just got to be a kid sometimes and let out your energy in a little kid fashion." he said with a big cheese smile.

D took the application sheet, ran his eyes over it a couple times and proceded to write down the few essentials. When he was done he looked up only to see Matt and Aran come prancing in hand in hand. He put his head down in dispair not wanting to look at their cheerful, lovestricken faces.
But he looked back anyways, he noticed that it was the man he had fought before, and was pleased that he would be a man on D's side. Mattus aproached him and started to talk to him, D cursed his luck, he knew he would have to talk to someone, he just didnt want to.
[glow=silver,2,300]Im here for experiance...[/glow]
But wait! D's fortune had changed, he saw Rayan struggling with somthing, Matt turned around to aid his friend, much to the delight of D.
D just strolled over to a corner of the warehouse took his shiney black shieth from his black and placed it against the rough walls, and sat down on the floor with his back against the wall (sano style, if you watch kenshin). He closed his eyes and tried to get some sleep, figuring that if the world blew up or some other phenominan happend he would be awakend.

Acturis glance over at Rayan seeing him on the ground wondering what the hell was happening to him, he was obviously in pain and noone seemed to notice. He looked up at Gai wheh he was spoken to. Acturis grinned as his profesion could be told by them, how they knew he was a magician was beyond him, he could've just as easily been a bussiness man or a tax collector. Either way Acturis smiled when he saw Gai jumping up and down like a kid.
Acturis "Its alright, I'm used to dealing with kids, though I put on more of a profesional show to entertain adults. What kind of magic would you like to see? Card trick?" He flipped cards back and forth in mid air that came out of nowhere. "Explosive tricks?" He flung one of the cards in the air and they exploded over their heads. "Ordinary tricks?" He covered the deck of cards with his hands to reveal a dove, he let it go and it flew out the window. "Hypnosis or levitation?" He pulled out his wand from his pocket, pointing it at the desk making the desk begin to float in mid air then he let it down gently. Acturis "Whatever you can think of I can probably do." He knew he was showing off, but he didn't care at all.
