As she fixed her last mine to the underside of a staircase located conviniantly on a building stuck right in the middle of her designated part of the town, the throbbing in Gen's head was only getting worse.
Five down, none left. Eleven minutes to go.
She tried desperatly to concentrate, but it was hard to think of anything other than that throbbing pain in her head.
Eighth street and . . . eighth street and . . .
And then it was as if her mind shut off. The pain was gone, but so were all lines of thought. A self-defense, almost. She was close by. Gen appeared next to the shapeshifter and stared blankly ahead. Her voice seemed more matalic than usual as she announced, "I'm done. Let's get out of here."

Boku was ver confused, he knew somethign was going on epesilly with everyone acting so nervous, like something bad was about to happen if they didn't leave soon.
Boku looked watched as one man moved into the shadows. Boku drew his sword and walked towards him because he appered to be in trouble. As he got closer another girl walk up and say something, she looked kinda out of it as she stared off into space. He slowed down but kept moving delibertly towards were the man was.
He looks like he could use my help but what if he tries to attack me?
"Oh what the heck." He said to himself as he speed up in the direction of the man.

Renia, hearing about the mines from the conversation the three companions had earlier, simply watche contently onwards. The mines would certainly Kill Renia, however all she need do was to step through her drowish portal and away she would be. She just hoped she was powerful enough to teleport a suffient distance away from this city... Heh.
Oh... how nervous they all looked...

(Peh renia.....)
Kruck relaxed when he saw Gen reappear and speak; he did not notice anything different about her.
"Good. Mequidra leave him, it's done."
Kruck nodded in Gen's direction, then turned his back to all of them. Glancing at his watch once more; there were 10 minutes left. Suddenly, Kruck started to stroll down the street in direction of the hangar, looking as the ordinary civilian. He even whistled queitly, he was happy after all.
It's just too easy.
He thought this almost wistfully, as if he hoped someone more powerful then Darkumbra had appeared to try to undo their evil doings. Or even better many little goody-goodies trying to ward them off out of the city before their work was complete. But, alas, all had gone as planned. Kruck sighed softly, continuing on towards the hanger.

The shapeshifter leveled the beam away from DarkUmbra.

Mequidra turned and began sliding slowly after Kruck.

Mellira, just whitnessing this strange exchange between those she had always thought allies (united against her, mind), wondered what had changed so much. No allies she had ever seen behaved thus to eachother.
Slipping from her own shadowy alley, she made sure of a taught bow string. The staff she had stolen from the military acadmey was in by her side, too, and she was ready for almost anything to come her way. A quiver of peacock fleched arrows sat, ready and waiting, and she pulled one.
Mequidra had hurt her once, shooting her in the back. Now, it was time for him to reap his rewards. She shot stright and true.

Mequidra turned just in time to see the arrow. He did some calculations in his head, and realized that DarkUmbra's magic had made him significantly more vulnerable to physical attacks.
Then the arrow shattered his head.
He could feel his head explode outward, and watched it with his psi as the shards of him scattered over the ground. He slowly grew another head, but could feel the mortality of the attack. He knew that basically anything more would kill him. With this, he decided that the one who hurt him needed to die. He reached through his mind, and looked for the most powerful weapon he could think of.
[glow=gold,2,300]Euphrates.[/glow]
The universe's premier bounty hunter used two guns for the most part, and Mequidra had managed to copy one before being blown to peices and left for dead. It was this gun, the Euphrates, that Mequidra mimicked now and pointed directly at Mellira's head. He fired, and the photon bullet flew with all the accuracy and power it was designed to.
[glow=gold,2,300]Ahknada would be proud of the use his weapon is being put to. May that fool find respite in the next world.[/glow]

DarkUmbra had just totally completed healing, and rose to his feet. He walked slowly to where Mequidra had been, and saw the plasma bolt fire at who he recognized to be Mellira. DarkUmbra also noticed Mequidra's apperent weakness and assumed that Mellira had attacked him. That bolt would totally demolish her. He cried a shout of warning twoard Mellira, and at the same time channeled the last most powerfull bit of his magic into the shapeshifter's head. He had no need to capture without killing. He was going all out. With a groan he collapsed and fainted as the last of his magic was used up.

Mellira let watched her impending doom. She knew the bullet was heading toward her, she was no way to dodge in. She knew that it would kill her, surely. She dived up, and let it hit her left knee. She fell to the ground, rolling it pain, unable to move from her prone position. Her knee was shattered. She could not move, could not walk, could not feel anything but pain.
Everything blacked.

The bolt of magic crashed into Mequidra's head, and his eyes shot open in pain. He began shivering and writhing in inexplicable positions, and turned to DarkUmbra, sending random thoughts into his head and his alone.
[glow=gold,2,300]"WEOIHSDIGNSIGSGIWNG! GSNGMVISDMVVDSF! FSADIFN AWINFASIDFS IFNEIFN SIDFANS!!!!!!!"
. . .
" . . . You fool! Look what you have done to me! Do you realize what will happen with me gone? ! ?"[/glow]
Pieces of the shapeshifter began to explode. Fragments of his body shattered off of him, bursting as they hit the ground. With his last ounce of strength, he turned the Euphrates towards DarkUmbra.
[glow=gold,2,300]"One bullet left! And, you pathetic shadow, it will blast you to oblivion!"[/glow]
He fired. The bullet of light shot out, aimed directly at DarmUmbra's head. The shapeshifter's eyes fluttered, and shut. He collapsed facedown, destined to never again lay waste to the lands of Fyia.
[glow=gold,2,300] . . . Mequidranata.
. . . Yes?
. . . You have failed. Even as arbiter, you were incapable of wiping out the population of Fyia.
. . . Yes.
. . . Fortunately, you left a double here. It will not be dispatched to Fyia.
. . . Why not? Fyia is just as much of a plague as the Creeds!
. . . Setthirosa is on his way. No living thing could survive him.
. . . I see. . . . Peace be with you in the afterrealm, Mequidranata.[/glow]
The shapeshifter ceased all movement, and there was silence.

"Nooooo!" the call rang out over all of the commotion in the square. She thought that she had detected a large amount of psy energy coming from this spot, but she had only just turned the corner and learned how grave the situation was. The shot was fired from the gun, and it was almost as if time slowed down as Kathryn rushed to the broken figure of her mate. She covered him protectivly and the blast of photon energy hit her square in the shoulder.
Gods!! Pain . . .
It seemed to rip through her body, until she thought that she would merely drop dead from the exhaustion of dealing with it. Her face was frozen in a horrid mixture of shock and pain, and her jaw dropped uncomfortably. "Oh," the word fell off of her tounge before she was flung into a world of darkness.

Cethyn glanced to his side and observed Kruck leaving an alleyway swiftly, appearing somewhat nervous. Curious, he walked in the human's direction, and moments later observed Mequidra sliding along behind. About to hail his friends, Cethyn noticed an arrow fly out of the alley to strike the shapeshifter in the back. Wrathful, Mequidra turned back, morhping an arm into a funky, advanced looking gun and fired it back in the direction the arrow had come from. Immediately afterward, DarkUmbra appeared beside Mequidra. About to call out, Cethyn saw the shadow being charge his magicks and blast them into Mequidra's head, nearly annihalating the amorphous entity.
What was going on? Cethyn had thought that Mequidra and DarkUmbra were friends--after all, they had helped eachother at Corvina. Yet now they were fighting, apparently to the death. And what about Kruck and that arrow that had weakened the shapeshifter? Striding forward, Cethyn drew his pistol and charged into the alley, finding a strange scene. A humanoid being lay prone in the back, a primitive bow lying by her side, her leg bleeding heavily. DarkUmbra lay still by the remnants of Mequidra. And, as Cethyn extended his antennae, he scented another being on the rooftop of an adjacent building; with the augmentation of his goggles, he could see a female humanoid figure peering over hte edge. There was also another figure, this one likely human by its scent, standing dumbfounded, a sword in its hands. Suddenly, as he stood confusedly, Cethyn witnessed yet another being rush into the alley, crouch by the fallen DarkUmbra and get hit in the shoulder by Mequidra's dying attack. She seemed to pass out subsequently.
Leveling his gun threateningly at the woman on the rooftop, for her expression bespoke more of knowledge than the other conscious being's, he said, in the buzzing monotone of his translator, "What has transpired here? What is going on?"

The second the shot connected, DarkUmbra shot to his feet. He did not care where Kathryn had come from, or how he had not died. All that mattered was saving his sole purpose for being alive. He clutched Kathryn's limp body close to himself for mere seconds, before the shock of what had just happened hit him. He screamed the single loudest sound utterable by anything human as emotions and memories tormented him as they never had before. Everyone of his seconds with Kathryn shot past before his eyes and seemed to dissolve as he remembered them.
Never had emotions or memories given him this much pain. He dropped Kathryn as he surged with power, for with the curse of great agony, came the blessing of supreme power for him at least. Magiks of every shadow, every umbra, every pneumbra, every shade, every spot not totally engulfed in light flowed into him, filling his lifeless shell with power beyond anyone's comprehension. He was no longer DarkUmbra, he was now a mere tool for the shadows to take their just revenge upon all wrongdoers. He was their weapon.
The power surged within him. Filling every inch of his soul-less body. The dark magik sparked around him, and spiralled within him. He was pure energy. He shot up into the sky, straight up, right in the sunlight. He knew where his first victim was without looking. Kruck. It, the magiks commanding him, summoned every last ounce of magic that the body contained, and hurled it. In one final bolt at the one called Kruck. He awaited to see what happened next.

Cethyn spun about as DarkUmbra surged up, brimming with power. The Cython could feel the raw power of the shadow being's magicks emanating like heat from a fire, and he fell back a step, swinging his pistol round to face this new threat--he was no longer a friend, having killed Mequidra--and stared upwards as the entity that was DarkUmbra shot into the sky. He observed the being gathering energy into one massive bolt, and tensed, expecting to be annihalated, but DarkUmbra launched the bolt of power in the direction Kruck had taken.
Annalyzing the possible threat of this suddenly more powerful shadow being, Cethyn deduced that perhaps he had used most of his energies in the last bolt of energy, and that there might be a chance of killing him if he acted fast enough. Taking careful aim, enhancing his goggles as greatly as possible, he slowly squeezed the trigger, then, compensating for recoil, emptied the entire magazine of the pistol at DarkUmbra in a salvo of deadly, precisely aimed bullets.
