BLAST!! The photon cannon blasted near DarkUmbra, it didn't hit him mind, but it was enough to burn his flesh and jolt him from his meditation. He slowly, quietly, and stealthilly rose behind the shapeshifter, and cast a flurry of shadow magic through the beings head. He soon after collapsed in the shadows from exhaustion, and his shroud withdrew. At least he was in the shadows.

Gen stood next to Mequidra, looking none to pleased. She placed a hand on his shoulder and blocked the cannon so that it could no longer fire. "Wait." her silent words were made to ring out inside of Meq's head, without risking loosing the prey.
"Something's telling me that we shouldn't risk killing him. The awakening . . . of power . . ." her thoughts were scattered as she tried to draw out what it was that her subconcious was telling her.
Kathryn.
Gen's face fell. She let off a string of not very nice words inside her mind and took a deep breath. "No," she continued telling Meq silently, "We must eliminate him from this area, but not violently." She sighed. "Is there any way that we can do this in the thirty-two minutes that we have left?"

Mequidra thought back to Gen in silent frustration.
[glow=gold,2,300]"'Not violently?' How do you plan to do that? If we throw him out, he'll come right back."[/glow]
He held up one of the mines. It wasn't ticking, either. At that moment, the full force of Kruck's mechanical ineptitude hit him. [glow=gold,2,300]"Gen, did Kruck design these? If so, I don't think we'll be getting a very big explosion . . ."[/glow]
((Grr. Just realized that I posted this as Alexander, and I don't think there's any way to change that. So live with it.))

Blast catch her ears and Renia ceases her spell casting, absorbing the trickles of lightening she had managed to grudgingly create.
Phe... If this carried on, she would only be able to send out her lightening attack only a meter or two... barely. Maybe for now she would only use this as an attack at very close range...
How annoying.
For now, her curiosity caught the sound of firearms fireing and the elf moves to the edge of the roof tops she was situated on. Peering down with golden eyes, the woman soon catches the site of Mequirda... such a strange creature.
Her eyes scan te surrounding and yet she could not see the shapeshifters target... however she could feel the man's energies. as if deep and shrouded in the blackest of shadows...
Anouther strange thing.
Amussed, Renia watches.

Kruck looked around and saw that no one was looking. With a sigh of relief he lay his last mine.
All done.
His joy, however, was short-lived. His radio crackled and Mequidra spoke disturbing words into them.
"Damn." He cursed his rotten plan, whoever was messing it up, and whoever else he found to fault. He hurried to where Mequidra was with a quite grim look upon his worried face.
A few minutes later he strode next to Mequidra with his lips pursed thoughtfully.
"What is going on?!" He demanded, quickly taking in his surroundings. there was distress in his voice; they hadn't much time left. Suddenly, he noticed the shadows, knowing full well who it was.
"Darkumbra?!" His voice rose with anger. "Mequidra?!" He whispered sharply, turning to the shapeshifter for an explanation. "What's wrong?!"

Mequidra kept his gun leveled at DarkUmbra's face. He wasn't overly certain where it was, but he did so nevertheless.
[glow=gold,2,300]"Firstly, my companion, it appears that your mines are defective. Two of mine were not making any indication that they worked. Secondly, several - I know not how many - of the mines you planted were diffused by DarkUmbra. And finally, I was about to put the shadow-man out of his misery forever when Gen arrived and specified that I should not for reasons I am still unclear on."[/glow]
He shifted his gaze accusingly towards Gen. He was not entirely certain of her motives, but he knew that the devastation and death caused by the bombs would be beneficial to the shapeshifters. He wasn't sure why he couldn't copy himself by assimilating the humans, but he did remember the highest guideline the shapeshifters had.
[glow=Gold,2,300]When in doubt, wipe them out.[/glow]

Kruck's temper was very close to flaring but stopped when he realized Mequidra was not dissing him- at least not totally- he was merely ponting something out.
But what made Kruck really mad was Gen's apparent weakness. he turned to her with a reletively calm face for the situation they were in. He did sneak a look at his watch that told how much time they had left. 27 minutes.
"Well, Gen, is this true?! Perhaps I mistook your prowess at evil. A simple definition of evil is killing people. Especially people who get in the way of other evil. Why do you want to spare his life?"
Kruck said this out of curiosity and demanding anger. On one hand he was really wondering why. On the other hand, he just wanted to finish the job and get the hell out of there. He sneaked another look at his watch. 25 minutes.

"Because!" the power in her own voice surprised her. There was no trace of humor on her face. "Killing him," she continued, at a much lower volume, "would mean awakening silent, dormant powers that would be strong enough to not only kill us, but to strip every one of us in this area of our very skin before doing so.
"And forgive me," she was trying desperatly not to raise her voice, but this man had directly insulted her. And he still expected her to help him out. "If I only care to kill and not be killed. I know that it might seem a foreign idea to someone of your intelligence, but bear with me, somehow we will manage to get your small brain to grasp the concept. You must listen to me if you wish for me to continue assisting you." She looked very sternly upon the two beings whom she was supposed to be assiting. She knew some that they didn't, but she also wished to manipulate that information to her advantage without having to completly expose it. For once they knew, it was all downhill.
"Now, if you'll excuse me," she finished, "I still have three mines left and only twenty-two minutes left to do so. And if I can trust you guys to actually listen to me, and take heed in my warning, which I believe that I can because, though one of you are human, you have a very high brain capacity for one of that species, and I'm sure that you can tell that I am speaking the truth." She glanced at the two of them.
"Do not kill him. Just move him." And then she was gone. She appeared in a dark alleyway, on the opposite side of her area from the other two mines which she had already set. Her eyes were wide in fear that the two would not take her words seriously, and her breath was jagged. "Get out of my head." she said placidly, though nobody was around to hear her. She considered screaming it, but decided that she really couldn't use a big crowd right then. She placed the third mine at the foot of some stairs behind the building that she appeared next to.
Three down, two to go, with twenty minutes left.

Mequidra shrugged. He was not used to taking orders, especially nonviolent ones. Shapeshifters were designed to be the universe's most efficient assassins, and that they were. As such, it is difficult to talk them out of killing things. However, they do value their lives, and Gen's arguement was an effective one.
[glow=gold,2,300]"Well, I suppose . . . "[/glow]
Mequidra's arm shot out and attempted to wind itself around his target's leg. He smiled as it did so. Grab, then engulf . . .

The passed out one instantly awoke from his death-like sleep as soon as Mequidra attempted to move him. No time to think, barely time to act. But why had they not killed him? Kruck and Mequidra certainly don't care. Must be someone else then. Before Mequidra got any further, DarkUmbra lashed out with a spell of such feirce power, that the very walls shook with fear. He would not be captured untill every last ounce of shadow magic was drained from his body, and he didn't see that happening. Mequidra had nearly crushed his frail bones, but hopefully the spell would free him from Mequidra's grasp.

Mequidra's eyes snapped open in pain as the spell hit him. He could feel the arm shrivel in the magical excess and explode.
[glow=gold,2,300]"Ahh!"[/glow]
He yelled out in anger and injury to the city in general. He looked at DarkUmbra, a cold, calculating gleam in his monochromatic eyes.
[glow=gold,2,300]"You foul creature of the shadows! Perhaps some light would make you feel worse?"[/glow]
Mequidra, despite his now slightly smaller size, began to morph. In seconds, one of his 'arms' had shifted into an enormous spotlight, which he focused on DarkUmbra in an attempt to dispel the shadows. With the rest of him, he created a large ball of morph magic, not of himself, and hurled it at DarkUmbra in an attemt to shatter his spine. He didn't want him dead, but he wanted him incapacitated.
[glow=gold,2,300]"You will escape with your life, but I will not allow you to foil this plan."[/glow]

Renia lay flat on her stomach on the rooftops, watchign the scene below her with a content smile. Her golden eyes danced with the folly that was happening below, the wonderous fight by the shape-shifter, human and strange shadow-skilled being.
She applaud the shape-shifters efforts, a light? Yes in a perfect world light would destroy shadow....
But the fool forgot one important fact...
Light creates shadow. Ying and Yang None can escape the other.
Never in the realms of the universe would their be enough light to engulf the shadows and visa versa. However, in a small street such as the one they were fighting in below, the light the shape-shifter was creating would only cast more shadows from every object there was around them...
This was such fun to watch!
Resting on her elbows, her left cheek in her left hand, Renia wonders how much time they would take to final capture Darkumbra, if at all?
After all, they had no time to dauddle.

Hurry.
It was like a constant pain; it repeated itself over and over again in his mind. If only it would just go away, dissapear, forever. Kruck managed to stay calm, somehow. He looked around them slightly nervous, but there was no one there. But he felt someone watching them; whoever it was was amused.
There's no time.
The voice whispered to him. But Mequidra's paine cry made him wince and forget about the voice in his head. He looked back over at the shadow creature and Mequidra. "Mequidra, we've got 15 minutes to move this idiot. If we fail, we must get out. Or else we will be blown to bits by our own mines."
It was true. Kruck knew he needed at least five minutes to make it back to his ship and get far enough away from this city to not be blown up. He quickly looked aorund again, then at his watch. 18 minutes left.
Hurry!

Boku wlked down the street he could sence evil near by and wanted to investdigate. He looked around and saw Kruck who looked very nervious, "What is he doing?" He said quietly to himself. He slowly walked in his direction, he didn't want to get to close because he knew that Kruck may attack.
As boku walked closer he kept noticing Kruck looking down at his watch like he was expecting something, or tiring to get away befor something happened. Boku didn't know and his curiosity stated to get the best of him as he walked ever closer to Kruck.
He almost yelled out to him when he noticed that he was looking at something, so he looked in that direction and saw two more people, one looked like they weere trying to move the other one but wasn't doing a very good job and was in a lot of pain and Boku could sence every ounce of it and begaine to feel hungry.

While a light does create more shadows, that's not much help if things were dark to begin with. The full beam of the light struck him in the arm. Not UV radiation, not deadly, but still very painful. He cried out in agony, but managed to wriggle back into the shadows before any major damaged was sustained. Wait! There was another. But was he good or evil, because all of a sudden DarkUmbra was feeling really alone, a feeling which ordinarilly suited him fine, but. . . now, he needed companionship, where are you Kathryn?! He tried to hide in the shadows and began to silently meditate, a spell of concealment.
