On a hill in the field, there was a dark robed man with a straw hat. He was sitting there relaxing a reflecting on the past. From the way he sat and always kept his eyes moving, you could tell that he was a warrior and had seen much death and suffering.
Gai felt great to be back on Fyia. He couldn't believe that he had been gone for a year on a self-seeking journey. It would seem that he had found out what he had been looking for...but for some reason, he felt like something was still missing.
He had seen so many people die...and had ended so many lives. And for what? Just to find out who he was? Was it right for him to end the life of someone who might have been searching for the same answers he was just so he could feel peace? Yes...it was; because if he hadn't done so, they would have done the same thing to him.
Gai knew that he had so much left to learn about life but he could never erase the images he had engraved into his memory. The sight of dying men and woman. The screams of mothers coming across their children slain in burning homes. This was only a small glimpse of the dark past that Gai had acquired in the past year.

There was the semblance of indifference within Harle's gaze as she treaded downward, passing a few neighboring trees and shrubbery. It was late evening, and the sun had now finally perched over the horizon, appearing indecisive as to whether it should make its leave. Harle gave meager attention towards the sun, and the surrounding wildlife and vegetation.
She had no agenda for the day, so she simply walked on through the field, one which she had never encountered before. Her presence could have been considered ominous, as she wore dark attire, as though seeking to plague a person with the promise of death. A rose was held loosely within her gloved right hand as her left held onto the center piece of her double-edged blade. Her weapon was positioned behind her neck, as her right arm was forced to bend at the elbow (to accommodate her sword).
A red band could have barely been seen by the naked eye, as it was laced tightly around her right arm. The darkly clad dress that blanketed her body brushed against any underlying grasses, that fell short of her obsidian boots. Ruffian winds swam past her, while flailing her short lavender locks, which soon chose to become a nuisance for her eyes. A cold blue glare was cast towards the side, not at anyone directly. It was meant only to mark her need to smite whatever forces controlled the winds.
The current lighting offered by the sun was gracious and abundant, as it enhanced her fair skin, allowing not a hint of pale texture to be seen. Not as though she cared what color her skin was, she had no room for vanity within her mind or manner. All animals seemed to shy away from this demonic child of Hell, who remained ageless through even the centuries of despair and gore.
This place seems... like all others I suppose. It won't even remain within my mind, for I'll continue to travel.
A low sigh rolled from her violet lips as her pupils seemed to lengthen with interest. Someone was in the area.

Gai's keen sense of smell caught the sent of a human. He smiled lightly to himself as he thought of what he should do. He couldn't believe that anyone had come this close to him without his knowing. But he could tell that there was nothing to fear, they seemed to be minding their own business. He could tell that he should have no problem taking care of whoever it was that was approaching...but just to be sure, he made sure that his Sword of Seals was ready to be drawn in an instant.
He laughed lightly as he stood up slowly and turned to face the new comer. He kept his face down and covered with his straw hat over it making sure that his elvish ears. He knew that he would have to be careful about what he said, he had no wish to offend the person.
But as he turned, he realized that it was a beautiful woman that was approaching. She was garbed in dark clothes and carried a double-edged blade across her back. And she had the scent of battle upon her. He knew that she had seen her share of fighting but he wasn't sure if she would pose as a threat or not so he stood ready as he watched her walk up the hill to wards him.

For the first time, Harle's eyes seemed to register to the apparent obstacle that stood in front of her, aside from the blades of grass and random trees. She knew that there was never a need for rash actions, but if an annoyance would arise, she would eliminate it. So, her dark boots drove her onward to the darkly robed figure, who stood distinctly, marking his nature right on the spot.
Her pupils seemed to form into long slits as her gaze adjusted. The man, as she had identified the person to be, was not too far from reach. Only an additional fifty or less feet away. But at this opportune moment of discovery, another group of stray winds chose to brush against her. This placed her cryptic veil in a lively bit of movement as it billowed turbulently against the currents. Even with this playful distraction, she was left unfazed, as she mentally summarized her findings.
A samurai... his gaze was last to rise. This is a strange turn of events.
The likelihood of this individual causing her to anger seemed low, as there seemed some akin quality shared between them. Even as he lived by a different code and way of life, they had both experienced gore in its many forms and guises. Her nostrils seemed to flare with the scent this individual produced, there seemed yet another shared similarity between them. They both did not appear to be human. Though such an observance was less noticeable on her part, due to her human-like ears. For most, her crystal blue eyes were a dead give away, at least when seen at a close distance.
No laughter emitted from her lips, and her violet lips only remained within a stolid line as she came to a ten-foot distance point away from him. Only when she reached five feet did she pause in her walk. She stood there, erect, and with her perennial rose and blade in place. Due to her undeniable politeness, she chose to start their conversation, whether it begin on a sound or awkward note.
"Hello Sir," she spoke, in a clearly effeminate yet tolerable tone.

Gai's eyes looked the woman over quickly and as they did so, his mind registered every little bit of information that he could gather. Her scent was not that of a human; something that he had never encountered before. Her eyes were a brilliant blue, and besides that, she looked completely normal.
After he was do examining the woman, his gaze returned to their pain filled stare. He nodded politely at her and responded, "Hello." he said in a low voice. His eyes then began to dart around; as if trying to determine if he showed still be cautious. "Are they any others with you?" he asked in his low, steady voice.
Gai wasn't partial to groups after the events that he had recently been through. And he could tell that this woman had been through similar situations as he had. But how she was dealing with the pain was still unknown to him.
(....so short but I don't really know what to say.)

((Lol, that's ok. I really didn't know what to say at first either, but I have an idea... if this doesn't end with a fight at least. Talk of an Inn will be introduced, if a tussle is not met, so don't worry.))
The inquiry passed her way had almost caused one of her narrow brows to elevate. But she remained the same, unflinching in her resolve as she calculated her words ever so gingerly. Almost out of habit, she lifted her right left hand, and brushed the gentle crimson petals of her rose against her violet lips.
"No... sadly, I abandoned working with groups a long time ago. My travel is solitary."
So far, the samurai's words had been acceptable. He may not have been gaining hero points, but tolerance was a lot more worthy at that point in time. But it was now Harle's curiosity that was sparked, as his question allowed her to assume that he may have had fellows around the bend, watching her every move.
Not as though he seems to need assistance... he appears to be pretty adept.
But the question was asked nevertheless.
"What about yourself samurai, are you here alone?"
The rose remained coquettishly placed upon her lips, though her expression never changed. When one would have perceived her action as being flirtatious, she would have denied such, since this rose had such furtive value to her.

Gai's eyes locked with the womans and he then looked away. He knew that he had nothing to fear and relaxed considerably. "Sadly....yes I am. For the past year, I have been feared by all that I come across. It would seem that my reputation has made me into some sort of monster. But really, I am a samurai who just wishes to find his purpose in this vast universe." he said as he sat back down on the grass.
He picked a blade of grass and held it gently in his fingers. "I am surprised that you haven't run away screaming in fear. You're the first person I've ever been able to talk to in a very long time." he said in his kind low voice. He then released the blade of grass and watched as it was carried away in the wind.
He then readjusted his hat so it covered his face properly and stood up. He was very curious about what this womans past was like so he decided to just ask; a leisure that he hadn't been able to take advantage of in a long time.
"So...what about you....why have you left the company of others?" he asked in a careful voice; so as not to offend her.

Harle's crystal blue eyes followed the man with numbed interest as he told her a quite too familiar story. The only difference was their reputations, since she never stayed long enough to gain one.
But if I had one... it would be just as worse...
The winds found this to be the perfect moment to set into play, as they frolicked along her short lavender locks and obsidian veil that fell only to the center of her back. Another glare was sent off to the side, but only momentarily. What emotion had seemed apparent waned and soon vanished from her cold blue gaze. Her eyes soon refocused upon the samurai as he went through his own shifting movements.
She remained standing in her erect position as he lazed for a while along the field's gentle grasses. Such leisure did not seem needed on her part, she only wanted to remain standing. But as another question was hurdled her way, she almost felt a slight grin tug at the end of her lips.
"Well, possibly because I am unworthy of such fellowship... or, simply because I don't trust anyone. I don't even trust you, but that doesn't have to be a hindrance in our conversation."
She lifted her blade from along the back of her neck, and planted one of the metal ends into the moist soil. A bit of sunlight glinted from off of her weapon, but it did not have a blinding effect. From there, she continued.
"I abandoned such company because I cannot depend on anyone; someone is either to die or betray me. Then again, betrayal could be apart of the disillusionment that my mind lives in. My last bit of company... was but a mere group of bandits. They had promised me a worthy prize for my good work, and I agreed, fully of my own consent. Even so, when that reward turned out to be a beloved family heirloom, I killed them in a fit of rage."
Her grip seemed to tighten unconsciously around her trusty weapon, before her gaze grew somewhat distant.
"This weapon did not belong to them, so... I became heavily suspicious, to the point that it drove me to insanity. Hmm... in most cases, for the sake of others, it is best that they do not share my company."

Gai averted his veiw from the woman to the sky. He listened to her story and knew that the story she told was the same as hers. He looked at her once more and shook his head at her words.
"Trust? I never asked you to trust me. And no offence, I really don't care for the trust of those that I barely know. I trust only one person....and she is somewhere far away." he told her as he took a step back from her.
He drew the Sword of Seals and held it lovingly. "This blade has ended more lives then I have seen days. But as of late, the only lives it has ended are those of the innocent. I was just minding my business when a village attack me. Then the demonic spirit that had been dormant for years awoke and I destroyed their homes and by the time I came to my scences, I'd slain every single one of them." he said in a low voice. The pain that he felt was very evident in his voice.
"Ever since that day, I've been feared by all...and those who tried to destroy me were destroyed. And for the past year I have carried the burden of the lives of every person that I have slain. So to me....trust is but a dream. No one will ever trust a killer such as myself." he said as he swung his blade forcefully at a near by tree.
As he did so a powerful wind started and knocked the tree over. "But for some reason, I have to kill and destroy. It's just a part of who I am. But I just don't understand how my skills will allow me to livve at peace in this universe. Trust....if only it were possible." he said as he walked over to the fallen tree and sat on it.

Her eyes did not question his gesture, for her feelings upon trust were quite similar. But as he trusted one, who seemed distant from him now, she had no one to trust, for all who had held it were cast to oblivion. Her gaze fell upon his sword, with the hidden interest of a blade fanatic. One thing that was also undeniable about her character was her love of weapons.
As your blade seemed meant to protect... it was always capable of being fallible. Or in your case... an accomplice...
As it was in her nature, she enjoyed killing, even as this man seemed repulsed by his violent nature. But it was only to a certain extent, as she tried her best never to kill without an allowable reason. But there seemed a yin and yang to this individual, as one desired blood, and the other shied away at the sight of it. At times, she suffered from the same force, like two fish swimming against separate streams.
The scent of blood was held strongly within the air, mixing from both their blades. Harle's nostrils flared once more from the new scent, as a narrow finger swirled about the metal of her blade. The scent, which soon sparked a coppery taste within her mouth was simply enticing. But her expression never revealed this budding dark pleasure. The perennial rose was soon placed beneath her nostrils, as she tried to ignore the toxic yet delicious scent.
"Hhm... likewise." She began on a silent note, reflecting upon his talk about trust. "Trust... I reject it in all form, but it is not as though you as a person are incapable of being trusted. Trust is a choice... and you chose to trust someone who seems distant from you now."
"Heh... even a fool can trust a monster, but you are only seen as such by those who fear you..."
And there is only one that I would ever choose to fear... let alone trust...
She fell silent for a while, as the tree fell, due to the new and more forceful winds, after his blade had crippled it. The new and freshly scented soil seemed to quell her possible blood lust, and she felt in one respect relieved, but also disappointed.
"Death is so common, heh... it should be considered an epidemic. And then... how are you to judge the innocent... the evil, and the insane? Everyone lives in a different reality, accepting only what they choose to believe. Are they only innocent... because they didn't want to strike against you?"
"Or... because you saw no possible evil in them?..."
((Sorry for my lack of conciseness... and what confusion this may bring.))

Far in the distance the sound of what seemed to be drums rolled over the hills. The sound washed through the breeze and slipped between the blades of grass. It was a strong, rythmic beat which seemed to be rapidly approaching. It came closer, grew louder, and soon the culp-rate could be seen.
Fast approaching was a mass of gold. With little movement Tari flew with her noble steed. The palomino thoroughbred galloped steadily, while Tari navigated from behind. It had been so long since the young women had seen her most trusted friend. As they climbed the hill Jazz, the horse, came to a sliding halt. Dirt sprayed every which way then proceeding to hang loosely in the air. Their silhouette was cast upon the setting sun's backdrop.
Tari observed the land around her, and as she looked to her right she could see two figures. Stealthily she dismounted and sent the stallion on his way, down the opposite side of the hill. The sun blazed off her intensely green eyes and bounded back to the two figures she was watching. Her hair was jostled about her as the breeze snatched it from her shoulders. She didn't sense harm from either subject, but kept up her intense glare in their direction. For so many months she had not been seen by others. In a strange, ominous way she thought it was horrible that she had been so obvious to their sight.
The battle hardened half elvish women had vanished during the war. She hadn't been the same since emerging from its depths. Cautiously she took a step in their direction, tears filling her emtion-emptied eyes. She was scared, but scared of what?
(sorry for the blah-ness!)

Gai stared at the woman with a look of curiosity. "I determined if they were innocent by the fact that I saw nor sensed no evil in their hearts and souls. But even after that, I still killed many of them." he said in a low voice.
He then heard the screams of those he had killed so ruthlessly. He remembered how he never thought twice about what he had done. As he turned his glace from the woman to his blade, he took in a deep breathe and caught the scent of the blood that lingered on it. It mixed with the blood scent from the womans blade and caused GAO to feel great sorrow for all the lives that had come to an end at the end of both weapons.
"So is this what we are to do for the rest of our lives?" he asked in an angry voice. "Ending the lives of those who may be innocent in one reality and evil in another? But who are we to determine like you said. No one. So even if we determine that our actions are just, we really can't be sure because in our reality the ones we kill may be evil but in their's, they're innocent. So either way we just add new sins upon every previous one that we had before." he said in a low voice.

A low sigh rolled from her violet lips as she gazed at him, without a streak of pity or compunction within her gaze. His question had possibly once been her own, but even she did not have an answer for them. The now distant sunlight reflected within her cold eyes as her gaze never wavered. She only chose to live day by day, just with one thing in mind: herself.
"You should not be asking me this question... I don't have an answer. Our realities are different... your code may be considerably nobler than my own, at least, by the opinion of the vast majority. But that does not make me ignoble... not in my eyes."
Her finger had stopped along the side of her blade, almost threatening to breach her skin intentionally. But no such action was made, as her crystal blue gaze bore into him.
"I care not for repentance, I simply sin and carry on. Heaven is not a gateway that I am destined for.... and I'd never think of going to such a place; it is not my home. For yourself, you must decide. You claim that you must kill and destroy... but when it comes right down to it... you control that urge. You have a demon within you, as any other being would... but it is apart of you."
You must learn to control it if you wish... kill if you must. Count what blessings you may have if you wish not to join my master in purgatory...
"Personally... I don't care who is innocent or evil... I don't care what people think of me. I live for myself... for I had abandoned my true purpose long ago..."
I can never return to my master... I am a disgrace...
Her eyes did grow distant once more, as her nostrils soon captured a foreign scent. Her gaze was thrown to the side once more, as her pupils became long and observant slits.
Another wanderer it would seem...
((Wow... I feel as though she was being a tad bit insightful. But ah well.))

A voice, that Tari could now identify as man's rushed about her. The tone and sound was so familiar and so comforting in the peculiar of ways. His ways of speaking brought back many memories and with a sudden spark, she could identify him. The tears in her eyes became to heavy for her to carry and and one by one the followed the other down the curves of her face. The voice belonged to her dear friend, Gai. She hadn't seen him in such a long time, they both vanished before they even knew what was really going on.
In a moment of courage she took two slight steps forward. The whind released its grip on her blonde hair and floated back to its perch on her shoulder. She opened her mouth, but her throat was hallow and not a sound came out. She closed her eyes in a desperate attemp to block the tears, and turned on her heel back up to the hill that she had barely descended.
Step after step she struggled, she wanted back the life she knew. Not the life where she had to kill to stay alive, but the more simple one, as a child. She didn't a care in the world, and her dreams kept her occupied all day, not the past.

With a look of disgust in his eyes, Gai retorted angrily. "You!!! You claim to have left all that you once cared about and never wish to return to it. But I see past your exterior. You wish to go back to where ever it is that you're from....but something holds you back." he said in a rough voice. His green eyes glowing with a demonic light.
"You lecture me about controlling something that you don't understand. Living the life that I live is harder then you could ever imagine. I'm no longer human of elvish...just a vessel. Searching for an outlet. I serve no master as you have said. I live only for myself. But I try to also care for those that I come across." he shouted angrily; as his eyes changed to a midnight black.
"And as for heaven...tis only something that I can dream about. I shall never know the joy of such a place. I am cursed. I shall live for all eternity. And never will I get to know the peace of the greatest paradise ever. Now you...you chose to live through hell. I have no other choice. Remember that." he said he turned away from her.
As he did so, he caught the site of a woman. At first he couldn't tell who it was but after a moment he knew it to be Tari. He couldn't believe it. He hadn't seen her since the war over a year ago.
He then turned back to the woman and bowed his head respectfully.. "Forgive me for my outburst. I never really meant anything by it. I was just venting about all the things that I've been through." he said as he turned back toward the direction that Tari was coming from and watched her climb the hill.
