D smirked at the enemies feebly armed troops.
Well well, Takeshi might actually be able to do somthing against these pitiful insects. Maybe I should go out and talk to him.
D got out of his chair and adressed the now mysteriously growing crowd that was in attendance.
[glow=silver,2,300]My highest appologies, but somthing has just come to my attention, as for you Fay't why should I trust you, first you threaten to kill the soldier if we move, than you say that he is an enemy spy. What reason is there to threaten killing a spy if we would rather you kill him anyway. Enough of this dramatic confrence if he is a spy kill him, if not than leave him be, excuse me. Master Stiger I would appreciate a report when this is over, forgive my rudeness.[/glow]
D politely bowed just a little, turned towards the exit and left. He walked out to the room where the rest of the party seemed to be. He noticed Takeshi seated on the floor with a sort of thoughtfull look on his face.
[glow=silver,2,300]Takeshi, get up, I must have a word with you.[/glow]
Takeshi snapped out of his dazed state of mind and came back from his memories. D seemed a little more excited about talking to Takeshi this time, and this made the boy curious.
[glow=green,2,300]huh,.. o yes sir.[/glow]
Takeshi followed his master to the cold outside part of the mountain. The bitter cold alarmed Takeshi who was just starting to get comfy inside the base. He followed the dunpeal around for what seemed quite a while around to a secluded part of the mountain.
What does D plan to do out here? Theres like 10 feet of snow everywhere!
D stopped and turned facing his student. He paused, closed his eyes and began the incantation to a fire spell. Suddenly he opended his eyes and shouted out the last character to the spell. Fire burst out from his shifty figure scorching the snow and turning it into water. This was a dangerous move for the dunpeal, who usually would have fallen to the power of heat, however the frigid mountain provided a perfectly safe environment for D. The vampire mutt manipulated the fire into a box shape which enclosed himself and Takeshi.
[glow=silver,2,300]Takeshi, you will have a field day on most of the soldiers your up against in this battle. They are weak and your speed will provide the perfect way to maneuver through the shots that the enemy will fire. However, there are a few exceptions. I'm going to be open with you here, I can sense a deep energy emitted from your body, you may even be more powerful than I. You Must tap into this energy if you want to survive the battles ahead. Focus your energy and take me on![/glow]
D unsheathed his sword and held it in front of him ready to attack. Takeshi manipulated the wind to bring him is own weapon, which he promptly grabbed out of the air. Takeshi tried to focus all the energy he could, but he didnt exactly know what to do, D was after all pretty vague about this "power" that was in Takeshis possession. He remembered D saying that speed was the way to win, so he tried to pull all his extra energy into his legs. This caused him pain, but he knew that it would have to work. The pain was unbearable, it reminded him of the day he was previously considering, it brought back memories of those who killed his mother.
Takeshi was suddenly thrown into a blind rage and when he looked at D he could only see a murderer, not his master. He saw the one who took his mother from this world. Takeshi let out a shout and his energy grew just a little. D could sense that he was indeed right, and if Takeshi ever did grow to full strength he would indeed exceed D's wealth of power. D saw the tips of his pupils hair turning a slight redish color.
Well, here the brat comes.
Almost within an instant Takeshi was in D's face swinging his butcherer at him. D was impressed, Takeshis speed had increased, this pleased the dunpeal. And with that the Dunpeal sheathed his sword.
Takeshi went for another blow, and would have struck down the Dunpeal, if it werent for the breaking of the fire spell and the abrupt chill that entered. This freezing cold knocked Takeshi back to reality and he noticed who he was attacking. He quickly stopped his assult and was left standing exhausted.
[glow=silver,2,300]You caught on fast, I didn't even have to attack to get you mad. That was good, Im proud of you, now lets go inside and see if anything new developed.[/glow]

Fay't watched D out of the corner of his eyes as he stood up and left.
What and idiot. Probably relies too much on skills instead of tactics.
Fay't slowly stood up from his crouching position, the man lying safely unconscious beneath him. He wasn't very tall, being only fifteen. Fay't sheethed his knife and addressed Mitsuko directly.
"Well, forgive me for interupting your little meeting but I'm sure at least some of you have the insight to see the advantage behind a captured soldier. A spy is always connected with the highest levels of command and so, I'm sure you can persuade this one to reveal some of his secrets to you."
Fay't walked to the end of the table, hopped off and proceeded out the door. It was getting boring inside. His time would be better spent analyzing his new comrades.
((note: Fay't won't be good for much fighting since he has no magic and no super-human abilities but I'm sure you can put him to some espionage/sabotage purposes))

Matt looked around and smirked.
"Now that....we have been interrupted...lets continue. I think we should just cut the small talk. We know our risks and what is at stake. We know what we are doing. All I need to know is who their main trump card is. Aran, D, and I will go after him."
He looked up towards the giant dunpeal.
"I'm sure that is where that opponent you have been trying to beat will be. He is obviously power hungry, he will be where the power is."
He turned back to Mitsuko.
"After that we can move out. I'm kind of anxious to get this thing going."

(((Ok, I'm back! Well I've been back, but haven't had enough time to post. Lets get the talking finnished up and the battle started!)))
Mitsuko just sat in his chair and watched as everything happened. (I don't feel like describing it all again.) Finally Matt asked if they could get going. Mitsuko now just had to finnish up the meeting.
"You've all seen what the Shurnon troops are like. And Boku, it seemed like you thought that you were going to have to fight many of them alone? Actually, you will all be fightning along side our troops. We just wanted you to help because I know you all are very skilled fighters... more than normal troops. And like we talked about before, we need someone to fight those two powerful men. As far as we know, they are the only ones that powerful with the Shurnon army." Mitsuko explained to them all.
"Ok, before we finnish, remember to be completely ready by tommorow morning. And is there any last questions?" Mitsuko asked before dismissing them.

(boku deleted his post...he messed up accidently))
Matt looked up annoyingly.
"Any last questions? You havent answered mine! Who are the strongest fighters who are running this whole show? ARan, D, and I will go after them."
He looked around and shook his head. Why wasn't anyone listening.

D walked back into the base with Takeshi at his heals. they came into the waiting room and D told Takeshi to stay there. Takeshi obeyed his master and took a manga out of his backpack, which he had left in the corner, and began to read it. D on the other hand continued back into the confrence room just as Matt had asked his question.
[glow=silver,2,300]I believe I can answer that my friend. One of them, the leader of the two, is named Zagur. He is a feroucious man who uses two swords one is extremely long and the other is only about 2 feet, but he is extremely well versed in the use of both. I fought with him once, and believe me you will have to use everything you got. The other man whose name is unknown to me, was very good with a gun, he snipped many people and enjoyed doing it. I also noticed that he had an axe with two heads that were double bladed. He is definately not as powerful as Zagur but still a fine enemy. That is all i know.[/glow]
D than took his previous place and listened intently to anything anyone else had to say.
(sorry bout that ending, kinda crappy but i got kicked off)

While Rayan had taken the few into the meeting with him and left the rest outside, Gai had a bunch of mixed feelings again. He was unsure of his purpose in the war again. If he really should get invovled with something he really knew nothing about and had no care for.
What am I doing? I know I swore to Rayan that I'd helpl him but. . .is it really worth the loss of lives to come? I'm not sure I belong here. he thougt to himself as he patted the mighty wings of his friend. "Skarlath, what do you think? Is this war worth all the trouble?" he asked the hawk.
Skarlath was a wise bird for his age. He did not answer for a few moments. Instead, he sat and thought about the question. and then finally gave his opinion. "The warssof men concern me very little bessidess the fact that you, my greatest friend are involvled in it. I will fight alongside you as long as you are willing to fight. Really, this war has nothing to do with you or any of your people. But, because you swore an oath of friendship and promised to fight along side your friend to the death, you must make the ultimate decision. Betray your friend, or fight with honour and fufill your oath." Skarlath said in a low tone.
Listening to all his friend said, Gai thought about what he should do. He didn't want to betray his friend, and yet, he didn't wish to fight with the passion he had in the past. After a long time of fighting with himself, Gai concluded that he would fight for his friend and gladly give up his life for him. "I'll do it." he said with a smile of relief.

It appeared to Mitsuko that no one else had any questions, so he decided top end the meeting. “Thanks for the help. Remember to get prepared tonight and come on time tomorrow. You may all now be dismissed.” With saying that, Mitsuko stood up gathered everything he brought and left the room.
As he walked through the high security halls, Mitsuko thought about everything that he would have to do the next day. He thought about things that could go wrong and how they could prevent or stop something from going wrong. He hoped that the battle wouldn’t last more than a day. He wanted to strike Shurnon’s forces quick so that they couldn’t get reinforcements and more damage be done. Finally, after walking through many halls, Mitsuko came to a huge, guarded door.
Mitsuko opened the door, which led him into a gigantic hanger and in the middle of it was the largest and most powerful airship on Fyia. It was about five kilometers in length and about one kilometer in width. Mitsuko walked up on of the huge ramps into it and found his way over to his room in the ship. There were all his weapons for the battle. He checked them, rechecked them, and made sure that he had plenty of ammo for the guns that needed it.
After fully preparing for the battle, Mitsuko closed the door to the room. He was going to spend this night in the ship.

Rayan shook himself and turned back towards Mitsuko when he stood up. He had just regained his senses from Fay’t’s abrupt interruption, and was confused that Mitsuko seemed to be ending the meeting so abruptly. Perhaps he didn’t care much for idle talk… Rayan had no problem with that. But there was one thing Mitsuko had forgotten…
“Hey, wait!” Rayan called as Mitsuko left the room, “you forgot to give us the…”
Rayan stopped as something caught his eye. He turned slowly back to where Mitsuko had been sitting. On the table in front of his seat lay what Rayan had been looking for.
“…The contract…” he breathed out in a hushed tone. Rayan stood gazing at it silently for a few moments more before walking over and swiftly snatching it in his hand. Rayan wondered why Mitsuko had not given the contract to him outright, and had instead left it behind for him to pick up. Rayan figured that it was probably his way of ending the meeting as quickly as possible, while also keeping from announcing vital information to everyone present- particularly Fay’t. Rayan didn’t know exactly, but he decided that it didn’t matter. He had the contract now, and now came the time to decide whether to sign it or not. His eyes scanned over it quickly, checking the terms of agreement.
Rayan Stiger…leader of Clan Thyconis… ……………………………………………Agrees to the terms of this legitimate contract…………………………and all the details enclosed……………………………Should the agreeing party fail to meet the terms of this contract, all pay offered for this assignment will be retracted…………Clan Thyconis, upon the signing of this document, is agreeing to serve the Corvinan Military in the upcoming battle for a sum of four hundred thousand Zethar, which the leader (Rayan) is to distribute amongst clan members as he chooses…………………This contract is only for the aforementioned battle to protect Corvina’s capital, and the signing party is free to abandon service to the Corvinan Military, or sign a new contract as it desires………………………………………………The Corvinan Military does not resume any responsibility whatsoever for any casualties clan members receive during battle, and it is assumed that the signing party……acknowledges all possible risks, and attributes any casualties as its own responsibility………
…………-General Mitsuko, Corvina Military Commander In Chief
Signing party’s representative signatures: _____________________________ ________________________________________________________________
Rayan thought over the decision carefully, but only for a few moments. Taking the pen that Mitsuko had left for him, he wrote his signature, and then handed it to Matt. “Sign it,” he said, “and you two sign as well,” he added, motioning to D and Aran. “I care about your input, too. I can’t just run this rusty show boat myself…”
Rayan turned to leave, but stopped abruptly. Shoot…I forgot to ask him when this battle was supposed to be! he thought, snapping his fingers and kicking himself mentally for being so careless. He looked back at the table where Mitsuko sat, and noticed an extra note attached which he had previously overlooked. He picked it up and read it. It said:
P.S.: Rayan, the battle begins at approximately 4:00 hours tomorrow. Make sure your clan is ready by then. -General Mitsuko
“Dang it!” Rayan said in a disappointed and slightly frustrated manner, “that’s twelve hours until the battle starts! Shrap…” He pounded his fist on the table, although he did not slam down on it very hard. Rayan’s mind revolved around those words…twelve hours…twelve…twelve… he could hardly bear to wait any longer; he felt himself about to burst inside. But Rayan knew that the waiting would be well worth it; their first mission was a top-notch one, and would likely be the most exhilarating experience any of them would have for a long time. That is, if they didn’t kill each other, first…
Rayan sighed discontentedly, and turned to leave, since there was nothing he could do about the extra waiting. He glanced at Fay’t as he went by, and he stopped, gazing at him for several moments. Rayan was still unhappy about how he had just burst right into their meeting, causing great commotion. He felt that he should set him straight. “You……I don’t want you to ever…bah, never mind…”
Rayan shook his head and turned away; Fay’t wouldn’t listen to him, so what was the point of telling what he could and couldn’t do?
Ah, well… he thought. I just hope he doesn’t cause more trouble than I can handle…heck, ALL of them, for that matter…
Suddenly, Rayan remembered that he had been planning to talk to Matt privately for some time now, and figured that this was as good a moment as any for that sort of thing. As he exited the room, he said, “Oh, Matt…if you don’t object, I would like to talk with you privately after you finish signing the contract. I’ll be waiting for you…”
With that, Rayan left the room, and headed down the hall, where he leaned up against the wall, where he waited for Matt.

Fay't smirked inwardly as Rayan made a feeble attempt to rebuke him. He didn't seem to be making many friends around here. But that didn't matter. Fay't didn't need anybody. All he needed was himself and his revenge. He considered dropping this whole clan thing outright. It seemed to be far more trouble than it was worth, especially with so many idiots around. In a war such as this, it is not the few skilled fighters that tip the tide, but the greater tactics that each side employs. However, it seemed that nobody would be willing to help him anytime soon. Fay't would have to scan the battlefield and devise traps and strategies on his own. But first, he needed to know the time and place of the battle. Information is power. That general Mitsuko. Why hadn't he mentioned the time and place of battle? Surely he would consider that important information, information that he would need to get Stiger. The general must have left it for Rayan to find. That way it could not be heard by unwelcome ears, most probably Fay't's. This Mitsuko was smarter than Fay't had thought.
Heh, these people may yet be saved.
As Fay't trailed after Rayan, he considered how he could get the information he needed. The simplest way would be to wait for Rayan to tell the clan. No doubt he would do so as soon as they regrouped.
He's giving me free information. Stupid, but I should probably do something in return. Maybe I'll let him in one what I'm doing this time.

Matt was now about to fall asleep. This was the most boring thing ever. Rayan’s moderate pounding of his fist on the table awakened him. For some reason, Rayan had some sort of weird trick that when he hit tables, he didn’t do it hard or soft...but moderately. ((sry I have to make fun of you)) Matt then snickered a bit when he said ‘shrap.’ What the heck was that supposed to mean? He gingerly took the pen from Rayan and scribbled down his name. He then passed the pen and contract on to D.
"...Your signature must be easy to sign…”
He then looked at Aran and smiled.
"I'll see ya in a few!"
He then followed Rayan down the hall and stood next to him. He cracked a half grin and then simply asked.
"What’s up?"

D took the pen from his fellow mercenary and than noted where to put his signature. He than wrote down in a very nice fashion, D (in the cloister black font found on most normal computers). He than passed the sacred pen down the line to Aran and walked off to do something with his pupil, the only one he really cared about.
[glow=silver,2,300]”Takeshi, come with me. We need to be rested, the battle starts in 12 hours.”[/glow]
[glow=green,2,300]”Yes, sir.”[/glow]
Takeshi followed his trainer down into a room where he thought they would be sleeping. As Takeshi entered the room he went into the bathroom to brush his teeth. (he needed super sparkly teethies before he went into battle.) As he gazed into the reflection of himself he noticed some differences in his appearance, for when he went into his angry more powerful state he took on the form of a real man of that race. He noticed fangs that were poking out of his mouth, and markings that had come on his neck.
[glow=green,2,300]”COOL! I’m cool now, woo hooo!”[/glow]
[glow=silver,2,300]Shut up. You’re not the only one with fangs you know,”[/glow] D stated coming into the bathroom out of curiosity of what his boy was shouting about.
[glow=silver,2,300]”Now get into that bed over there and get some sleep. I will be in the room next door. Goodnight.”[/glow]
Takeshi did as he was ordered and went into slumberville.

Rayan opened his eyes when he heard Matt’s voice. He slowly turned his head towards his friend, and then stood up straight. Rayan had wanted to talk to Matt alone for quite some time, but now that he was here, he wasn’t exactly sure what he wanted to say, or how to say it. Finally, he spoke in a somewhat quiet and serious tone.
“Matt…listen, and listen well. You know the state of our group…how they are all have no unity at all whatsoever…I know you don’t want to work with them as a ‘team’ either, and I’m not asking you to. I just want to ask you to be there for me tomorrow. You’re the one person I can count on to make us pull through this. Lead the others by example; show them how they are supposed to act. I can’t handle them by myself…they were let out of their cages before they were tamed. I need a firm second hand, and as far as I can tell, you’re the only one who can do this…”
Rayan stopped for a moment, and recollected his words before he continued. “So…I guess just rock like you always do…” he said to wrap up his train of thought.
Rayan fell silent again, and looked down at the ground. He had given Matt all the battle instructions he wanted to give him, but something else weighed upon his heart, and he had to say it, but he just didn’t know how to start.
You might as well spill it now. No sense in waiting any longer Rayan thought to force himself into saying the words stopped short of his lips. Just say it…
After shaking his head, Rayan forced out the words at last. “Matt…I…I’m asking you this because…because you’re my best friend- you've always been there for me. I know I haven’t been much of one lately…I shouldn’t have blown up at you like I did yesterday. And…I shouldn’t have been jealous about you and Aran. If I were a true friend, I would be happy that you two are back together again. But instead, I envied you…”
Rayan paused and breathed a quick, weary sigh. He felt pitiful…regardless of how Matt would respond to his apology, he knew that Matt generally didn’t show his true feelings if he was upset about something. Rayan’s guilt clung to him as he continued to stumble through his confession.
“…I know that I shouldn’t have acted like such a jerk. But I did. I just wanted to say I’m sorry…for everything. You see, sometimes…I just look at you and think, ‘that’s how I want to be…’ I envy you sometimes because…because…I want to be like you. I could never forgive Aran if I was in your place, and yet, you treat it as if it’s no big deal…as if it doesn’t bother you. And…I guess I’m dissatisfied with my circumstances…where as you make the best out of everything. But even though I’ve been a complete, total moron lately…you’re still my friend. I can’t thank you enough for that…”
Rayan felt hopeless. How could Matt ever understand the feelings swirling about in his mind? How could Matt ever truly understand him when he did not truly understand himself? But…maybe…just maybe, Matt did understand him, even if only a little…
