((Err, yah, powerplaying. I'd change what you did with Firehawk, because he could have moved before you got there, and you didn't allow for any defense. Fighting takes a while, get used to it.))
There is a slight difference between "setting up walls" and "slashing connections" when it comes to psychic probing. Relics, Mages, and Cabal alike usually opt for the second.
[glow=silver,2,300]"Out. Now."[/glow]
Mahandronis slammed defenses inside his psyche fast enough that they should have stunned the owner temporarily. Next, he looked at Alexander. He could feel ichor draining from him as a result of the Angel of Life's attack, and he was beginning to get angry. Running up to Alexander, he clubbed him with his gun, catching him in his other hand before he could drop. Throwing him to the ground, the Relic laughed in triumph. Alexander sat up on his knees slowly, listening to Mahandronis.
[glow=silver,2,300]"Alexander, you have made my life very difficult recently. And now, I intend to put you to rest for it. Farewell, Angel of Life. May Gaea find a better use for you in your next life."[/glow]
The gunshot rang across the plateau, scaring birds and lizards from their nests and dens. Almost in response, there was a clap of thunder and rain began to drop from the sky, dampening rapidly the dry, dusty ground.
Alexander stared blankly into nothingness for a moment, a large bullethole in his chest. Slowly, he fell forward onto the ground, the blood slowly pouring from his wound.

Snapping her mandibles in amusement as Vindication drew the first blood yet shed by her claws, slashing open the vulpine woman's leg. Jumping back from the retaliation, Wraith began to remember Setthirosa's lessons in avoidance. Suddenly, as if awakened by the thought of that idiot Setthirosa, Wraith felt the other consiousness within her rise, writhing, out of the depths of her brutally split mind. Rift, that pathetic worm of a Cython that accepted everything Setthirosa taught them like a starving man gobbling food left and right with no regard to whether it's poisoned . . .
A mental battle ensued, Wraith wrestling with her alternate personality, trying to suppress her, force her back into the pits of nothingness deep within their shared consciousness. Fueled by fury, Wraith meat mercilessly at Rift as their wills battled, twisting and striking in a duel that would have been awesome to behold were it not constrained to the confines of their shared body. Finally, after moments that seemed like an eternity, Wraith regained total control, but it was too late to dodge the dagger flying towards her.
The slim blade stuck into Wraith's ebony carapace, standing out like a malformed thorn from a blackened, rotted, decaying rose. Shivers of pain crept into her awareness, but it served only to further feed the fires of hate already burning like a furnace within her, hotter than the flames of Hell, she fancied. Ripping the dagger out with one of her wicked sable claws, she snapped the slender blade under the severe pressure of the powerful pincers. Antennae raising in a, for her, smug smile, Wraith hissed and charged, bringing the full brunt of Vindication to bear against the woman that had dared attack her. In the background, as she surged forward with the full power of her massively muscled hind legs driving her forward, Wraith heard the sound of a gunshot ring clarion in the quickly moistening air while rain drops began to fall all around the combatants.

Keijina watched in horror as Mahandronis shot Alexander. She attempted to get up, but failed, falling to the ground. She bit her lip and squeezed her eyes shut. A mist engulfed her body for a few moments and were there was once a woman, there lay a fox. She stumbled out of her cloths and ran towards the angel. When she reached him, she sat down on his chest, her amber eyes examining the wound. A glare was cast at Mahandronis followed by a growl that clearly said, "Don't even think about shooting me, Scum."
She sat on Alexander's wound, using herself as a rag. She licked at his face, a canine gesture, waiting, waiting for a response. Her cloths and weapons were in a pile a few yards away, a redish light engulfing them in a protective shield.
'Heal yourself, I know you can! Please!' she said to him in her mind. Her amber eyes help hope and worry, fear and doubt.

"This... will... end... SOON!" Firehawk quickly whipped out his dagger and stabbed out at his attacker, then pulled away and looked around the battlefield. "This is getting to be quite annoying." He then saw Alexander on the ground, having been shot by Mahandronis. Keijina was there too. "Crap. I'm the only one fighting right now for our side... looks like I gotta stop my restraints." Firehawk glowed for a second, and then suddenly it ended and he looked over at Mahandronis again. Now, his eyes glowed a deep crimson and he began to gather a flame in his hand. "This is as much as I'm going to let out... Now then... Let's see how you handle a little heat!" Firehawk threw the flame at Mahandronis and then turned on the one who had attacked him before. "You surprised me before. It won't happen again." He then charged into battle again.

Alexander's eyes opened slowly, and pain was on his face as he looked at the fox. His voice was barely audible, and seemed to crack with agony.
[glow=white,2,300]"I'm . . . sorry, Keiji . . . na . . . I'm not . . . strong enough to ca . . . st any spells . . . I'm sorry I . . . got you here. I'm sorry I'm not any help . . .
I'm . . . sorry . . . "[/glow]
He gripped the fox's paw with his hand, then closed his eyes and slumped back. The pressure on the foot lessened, and his breathing stopped.
*****************
Mahandronis smiled wickedly at the unfolding scene. He knew he'd succeeded, but felt a small pain deep within him, the same pain he felt whenever he watched anything die, particularly a death he had caused.
[glow=silver,2,300]"Ha, ha, ha . . . You see? Those who oppose the Relics are destroyed. You have no hope as long as you do not join us."[/glow]

«Unusual. Tsluven's down, looks dead. I can't take any more, I'm stepping up the artillery, over.»

Mahandronis looked up and sighed heavily. This had not been his day, and the enormous ball of white energy headed towards him promised no exception now.
He leapt up, and the shot sailed harmlessly by him. Following it with his eyes, he smiled in satisfaction as it tore through the air toward the creature which was hurling daggers.

Sumi disappeared and blinked in beind the man who called himself a Relic. She threw 3 more daggers, one aimed at his neck, the others at his back. "Do not underestimate me, it will only hinder you further." she said smoothly from behind him. Her dark red hair flew back in the breeze and she snickered slightly. ********************* Sumi chuckled and saw the small fox laying on an angel. She raised her eyebrows and looked toward Firehawk. "We must continue this later, Birdy, I have buisness to attend to." She ran to Keijina's clothing and picked it up, hissing as the green light burned in skin. A few seconds later she had dropped the stuff by Keijina and was looking down at her healing hands. "Give him some of your blood, puppy." she said to the blood-covered fox. "It will give him enough energy to cast a spell." she explained. ********************* Keijina wanted to change into her humanoid form and question the stranger, but there was no time to spare and she was missing her cloths. Her vulpine eyes looked at Brook, then at Alexander who was holding her paw limply. In a quick instant, she was a nude human, but with her cloths near, that moment didn't last long. As soon as she was covered, she grabbed her sword and sliced a gash in her wrist. Alexander's head cradled in her lap, she gently put the gash to his mouth. With luck, the blood would trickle down his throte and into his digestive system, if he had one. "Please, please, don't go." she shut her eyes and rested her forehead agianst his. 'See? SEE!? This is why you never ever love someone. As soon as you turn your back, they die. I have kept you from pain for what, 200 years now? I know what to do, but do you listen to the intellegent part of your brain? No.' tears rolled down the kitsune's hidden face as she realized the truth in those words, but something inside her rebelled. 'When ever I'm with him or Firehawk or anyone else who I consider a friend, I am happy. We are there for each other and don't have alternate personalities telling them to ditch life (with the exception of Firehawk). ' she concluded. 'But it looks like I am going to loose another one of my oh-so-rare friends.' she thought to herself sadly. She bit her lip and poked his dim halo. "Please," she whispered softly into his ear. "don't leave me now,"

Mahandronis winced as he felt a dagger hit him in the back of the neck. Slowly, he reached up and romoved it, sliding it into his cloak. There would be time for examination later.
Casting a glance at Alexander, he decided his work was done, and since things didn't seem to be going in his favor right now . . .
[glow=silver,2,300]"I believe I have done what I came here to do. Wraith! We depart!"[/glow]
A ball of energy came into his hand, and soon it enveloped both him and Wraith. In a flash of sliver light, both vanished.
***************
«The Relic's gone. I'm moving in for clean-up, over and out.»
Minutes later, a creature came up over the edge of the plateau. It appeared to be like a jellyfish, but with a few tendrils that looked benign. It simply floated through the air, and the rapidly setting sun's light shone off his ebony 'skin.' An enormous gun, almost cannonlike in appearance and at least five feet long, floated beside him. The creature floated towards Alexander slowly, apparently unsure of what to do. It gestured to the fox-girl with a casual tentacle.
«You. Firstly, which Relic was that, and secondly, can you take care of this one?»
He did not speak, as such, but his voice was heard in the heads of all present. The creature landed lightly by Alexander, and put a tendril to the Angel-Born's neck.
Interesting, he still has a pulse. Maybe it started up after the energy from the Relic's departure.

"Can't... stand... anymore!" Firehawk let out a yell and looked once again at the retreating Mahandronis. "You... you don't even care... You care about NOTHING! Well, now I'm going to strike you down!" Firehawk glowed red, and it slowly began to increase in intensity. His rage had passed its limit long ago, and now he had lost complete control.
[glow=red,0,200]Finally... It's time. This... Mahandronis had better prepare himself, for when I catch him, I will not be so forgiving as my counterpart...[/glow]
Firehawk's aura slowly faded to reveal the Phoenix within him, his evil side. Yet this time they were united with one goal... To do whatever it took to defeat Mahandronis.
[glow=red,0,200]"I wonder how you'll deal with this, Mahandronis. When I find you, I will strike you down. I am FAR different from my other side. Get ready to fall.[/glow]
I only pray I have not made the biggest mistake of my life...

Keijina looked up with tear-swollen eyes. She cringed as the airial jelly fish reached into her mind. It reminded her too much of her past to be comfortable. "The ones that just left were Mahandronis and, if I'm not mistaken, Wraith. As for Alexander, I'm pretty sure I can take care of him." she said shakely. When she reached down to his neck, she indeed, felt a pulse. ********************* Brook looked at the flaming Firehawk and smiled. "Are you going to travel with the Kitsune or are you going to try to follow Metal-Arm?" she asked calmly. "Sumi. Do we follow the gunman or stay with Keijina?" she asked her sister, their mind connection strong. The only people who could hear their conversation were Sumi and herself; she hoped. ********************* Sumi thought for a moment before responding to her sister's question. "This is a test for her. Let us go after the relic called Mahandrois, he has already prooved hitable." She picked up the tossed blade and licked off what she thought was blood. A burning in her stomach showed that what she thought was blood was actually something to the degree of mercury. Sumi cursed as her innards healed quickly. "Come, Brook. We are leaving." she looked at her sister and blinked out, knowing that her sister would and could follow.

The jellyfish seemed to pay little mind to the thoughts that flitted across his mental currents; if he cared, or even heard, he showed no sign of it.
«My name is Keltethyonex Nantaganatsitsu. If that is too much of a mouthful - for the being with, I note, a mouth - then Onex will suffice. Mahandronis can be destroyed if I can locate Setthirosa, and the "Wraith" worries me little. As for Alexander . . . well, you can keep him alive for now if you want. I will most likely be back for him.»
Keltethyonex sensed that he was making a mistake in not destroying the Salvationist, but he knew that Alexander would pose little threat. Also, he did not want to hurt the vulpine creature, as wrong as he knew that was.
«I could probably bring back this creature, but I do not think you would find it very much to anyone's benefit save my own. He would be . . . different. If you want him as he was, take care of him yourself.»

[glow=red,0,200]"There are more important things than victory in a battle. It seems strange that I of all people would say that... I, the one who decimated an entire area of my planet... Yet, maybe it is the influence of my counterpart that is bringing me to this."[/glow] Firehawk looked back over at Alexander and Keijina to see some strange being. He caught the name and thought the thing interesting.
[glow=red,0,200]Perhaps he may prove to be an ally. Yet... I cannot find out yet. Keijina needs someone to be with, I can't leave her now... Mahandronis will just have to wait.[/glow] Firehawk was not changed, it seemed, as if his mind had kept control but his body had become that of the phoenix.
--------------------------------
How true that thought was. Firehawk's reaction had been so great that his evil side had manifested and been flung off a few miles away. "I have a physical form... again... Yet he has all the power! I can't feel anything... BLAST IT ALL!" He let out a yell and hit a nearby rock, which shattered instantly. "Firehawk... You will not be forgiven... I will have my powers restored! You will soon meet me again... I... Binak."

Keltethyonex heard the phoenix-creature's voice, and turned slowly. His telepathic message was loud enough to be heard by all present, and seemed to have a bemused quality to it.
«Hmm? More important things than victory? I disagree. One must succeed in ones mission. Some things are too valuable to lose, but victory can always be achieved if one looks hard enough for it. But those are only the things which must be used to win future battles; weapons and generals and such. Why else would we fight?»
His voice had lost all of its humor. He seemed to be gazing up into the clouds as he spoke again.
«Living creatures die when we fight. If you do not fight to win, then another battle must be waged elsewhere, and more must die. It is imperative that life is not wasted. If you do not win, then you waste more life later on, or lose yourself. Victory is what matters most.»

[glow=red,0,200]"Yes, victory is quite important... yet one cannot always be victorious. Like today. I'd consider it a victory, yes, a small one. But we have yet to fully defeat Mahandronis..."[/glow]
Firehawk was now beginning to feel something odd about himself. Finally, he had realized the most earth-shattering thing of all.
[glow=red,0,200]My evil side... it's gone! How? And more importantly, why and where is he!? Blast it all... it's good to be free of him, but he may have manifested himself and could be anywhere, doing anything... this is definitely taking a strange turn...[/glow]

Keijina was shivering violently. Every nerve in her body told her to get out, to get away. She did not get a good feeling about Onex and he didn't seem to be trying to make one.
She lifted Alexander's head and gently inched to his side. Her sheer cloak served as a pillow for the barely alive creature. She stood and looked at Onex.
"Too many people have died from someone's lust for 'victory'. I have lost one of my few numbers of friends and almost lost another," she said, motioning to Alexander. "I have things to fight for, yes, but as two very choatic creatures will prove, not all have blood to shed." a large log was placed next to her winged friend along with another almost exactly alike. She pulled out a various amount of animal hide and began to weave together a hammok. A sour glace was shot at Onex as she thought of possible intentions.
"Victory does not always come in battles and blood, I would like you to keep that in mind."

Keltethyonex waved a tentacle, dismissing Keijina's statement.
«Not all victories are won in battle. Many are won in politics, or religion, or love. But when it comes to war, sometimes we don't have a choice. Sometimes, blood must be spilt for the good of all. If you didn't believe that, too, then you wouldn't have come here.»
The Tlyunava set the point of his gun on the ground, and dragged it behind him as he floated across the battlefield, looking left and right at the destruction.
«I disapprove of bloodshed. I do what I do because of that. I was born to fight, I was given that strength. My master taught me how to fight even better, and even how to get . . . others . . . to do it for me. I fight to improve the world, and to make a living. Say what you will, it is simply how I live.»
