The midsummer sun was shining at its fullest potential, but a thick blanket of clouds weakened it so that only a dim light fell on the high plateau in middle the Arkane Lands. A thunderstorm was brewing, lightning crackling without rain; a cool breeze blew from the northeast, but the temperature was comfortably warm despite it. Only lizards and large beetles had not been frightened away by the impending tempest, and even they seemed unusually skittish.
Alexander clambered up the rocky path to the plateau's level top, not flying despite the favorable headwind; it would make him a very efficeint lightning rod to take off. Though his eyes shone with confidance, his hands were trembling with fear. He wanted to stop Mahandronis, but he feared for both himself and his friends.
His friends.
Turning, he called out behind him.
[glow=white,2,300]"Keijina! Firehawk! Are you coming?"[/glow]

Firehawk had been steadily making his way up the path, following Alexander. His progress was average at best, but the adverse conditions were hampering his speed. I don't know why the hell I feel so slow... normally I'd be at the top by now... He heard Alexander call for him and Keijina, and he replied "I'm coming... slowly..." He reached Alexander and proceeded to ask, "Where do you think Mahandronis is, anyway?"

Keijina was pulled from her thoughts as Alaxander called to her and Firehawk. She had just then realized how far behind she was. She bounced lightly from boulder to boulder, slowing down as she bounded a few feet in front of the guys. She looked at the lizard's hands and wanted to comfort him, while allowing him to keep his pride.
'This isn't what I expected. He seems so...scared. What has this creature had to endure, I wish I could get into his head and know how to make him feel better.' she said to herself as the males came to her side. She fell in step with Alexander and bit her lip uncertainly. A gentle hand touched the shaking hands as the look in her eyes portrayed her worry and sympathy.
The hand that touched him, however, was not gloved. Her hand was smooth and sent her internal flame into the person she touched. The result was comforting...or seducing.
Keijina trembled with fear inside. She wanted it to be comforting. It would be, to the right people. She had no idea how Alexander's body would react to the sudden kitsune-bi, and the last thing she wanted was for her parent's training and expirments to ruin her friendship with the first living thing to trust her.

Alexander felt the intention Keijina's touch, and understood that she meant it to be reassuring; as such, he was reassured.
[glow=white,2,300]"Let's go. We have a fight to win."[/glow]
*********************
«Ahh, let's have it . . . Third day of the Aselenevahu division, year 90545, shall we? Seems convenient. I am reporting a convergence of a Salvationist and a Relic in preparation for a battle. Oh. The Relic has some Creedlike creature with him, about . . . say, 6 feet high. The Salvationist . . . is that Enludu Tsluven? Odd. Anyway, he has a pair of hominids with him, and they look like they're ready for anything. Shall I intervene, over?»
"Leave them 'till after the fight. The Salvationist's dead galthren if it doesn't run, and the Relic will gain strength with more foes. Kill the Relic later, over."
«Understood. Over and out.»
********************
Atop the plateu, Mahandronis calmly sat on a large rock. He was absentmindedly fiddling with the dial on his right arm, and looked up to see Alexander.
[glow=silver,2,300]More preparation would've been useful . . .
"Wraith! I am going to show you how to weild a sword and kill a Salvationist. Are you prepared?"[/glow]

Keijina's ears picked up the sound of talking and the ring of metal on metal. She looked at her bare hand and removed the other one. Both were thrown to the ground, forgotten. The kitsune did not realize her mistake. Each glove had obsorbed a fair amount of her power and anyone that wanted to, could transfer that power.
Her hands, now free, grasped the hilts of her katanas. She had the feeling that there were bigger foes out there than Mahandronis.
Her body shivered as her kitsune-bi mixed with a spirit of her old friend. Her heart raced as her adrenilline kicked in. She wanted to fight. Her body was going to explode if she didn't.
Gracefully, her swords came from their homes, each softly glowing red. She closed her eyes and smiled. Divine energy pulsed through her blood and exited at the tip of her weapons. She flashed a winning smile at Firehawk and Alexander, then progressed up the rocky hill.

"Of course I'm prepared; I was prepared the moment I pulled this blade from Cethyn's grave." Slightly annoyed with this, to her, useless question, the fury began to build within her once more, pressuring her till she was certain she'd explode without release.
She lifted Vindication, the black edge of the blade glittering dangerously in the bright mid-day sun, the sun-dazzle reflecting brightly off her similarly gleaming ebon carapace. Her antennae were high in a smile, and she clicked her mandibles excitedly, shifting her manipulatory arms, anxious to shed first blood, to learn the sword and learn it well. Crouched several paces away from Mahandronis, her long, multi-jointed legs sticking up like some cursed cricket's, she readied Vindication for a leaping strike at whoever was ascending the hill at such a rapid rate, detected by the delicate sensory organs of her antennae. Peculiar scents drifted up the hill, those of three creatures she had never encountered before, though one was reminiscent of a human. In an act unintentionally to that which Cethyn always performed upon detecting such things, Wraith stored these three scents in the flawless libraries of her Cython mind.
As the oncoming creature breasted the summit of the rocky hill, Wraith, her mantis-esque reactions taking over, surged forward, arms stretched forward, Vindication held steady in powerful claws by grips of steel. The vicious adamantium point of the sable sword might have torn into the creature, a strange mix of human and animal features--vulpine, it seemed, though unlike the primitive Vuulan of an old Orion world, with four-eyed, four-eared faces the memory of which came to her from Cethyn's old memories--might have been torn apart were it not for the misfortune of loose pebbles skittering away from under Wraith's clawed feet. It would seem that she had chosen a poor position from which to exact an ambush, one without sufficient footing for such a precarious leap, and as it were, Vindication went wild, swinging up around the creature's head while Wraith fought against falling over. Catching her balance with mantis-esque grace, Wraith backed away with several quick steps, seeking surer ground from which to fight, keeping up her guard the whole way.

"Well then, I think we're all prepared for this imminent battle." Firehawk quickly adjusted his leather armor and focused his flame power a little better. I'm surprised you decided to give me that power... [glow=red,0,200]Don't talk about it. I did it because if you die, I DO TOO.[/glow] Shut up. Firehawk stepped over a rock and followed Alexander and the others, loosening his sword in its sheath. He also made sure he had enough crossbow bolts to get the job done, perhaps as a distraction, as when he had first experienced a fight in Dathomir he had ended up using bolts but having them disintegrated by shots from another gun. He also looked down a little and for the first time since coming to Fyia, remembered his amulet, and in doing so remembered all the so called "hopeless" battles he had fought... and won. Even if one of those times... Firehawk remembered his final battle on his home planet, in which he gained his name, and discovered his evil side. He had become a phoenix and destroyed the surrounding area... NO! Never again! I refuse to allow myself to lose control and let him take over! He then continued to follow Alexander.

«My. That was foolish. The Creed-being appears to be trying to get herself - identified as female, possibly hive queen - killed. She is attacking on poor ground. Good thing I don't have to worry about it.
Moving along. The Relic is taking offensive action now.»

[glow=silver,2,300]"Keep your footing! Did Setthirosa teach you nothing?"[/glow]
Mahandronis took to the skies, and looked at Alexander.
[glow=silver,2,300]"Time for you to see the problem with being a life-saver - you cannot save everyone."[/glow]
"0043."
With these words, he fired a solid shot of white energy directly at Keijina's head.

Keijina tried to keep an eye on both of her attackers, but was unable to. The only thing that prevented her from being hit by the beam of light was her instinct. Her mind stored everything that Mahandronis said as it might help her figure out the problem in Alexander's head.
The beam sent loose rocks flying as the kitsune decided to form an attack stradigy. Keijina used the momentim from one of them to launch herself at the bug. It was off footing and she could use that. Her left weapon raised up to strike downwards as her right protected her belly with a horizontal slash. The red glow from her swords made her eyes flash flicker with what looked like fire, giving her a dangerous appearence, and dangerous she was. Too many had underestimated her because of her figure, that time was to be over. There were few people that she cared for and cared for her in return and she would not let anyone take them from her.
She bounded off of a nearby rock and landed gracefully. A qick flick of her wrist shot a small, but poisonis, dagger at the oversized bug. She watched to see if her blow had damaged, or even hit, its target.

[glow=silver,2,300]"Wrong."[/glow]
A shot from Mahandronis' arm knocked the dagger out of the air and sent it clattering to the ground. Flapping his wings, he looked at the fox-creature.
[glow=silver,2,300]"Instinct can't save you forever!"[/glow]
*************
«Taking action on a personal account. One . . . ahh, apparently canine homonid is being attacked. Preparing to counterstrike, though the shot'll take quite a bit to hit from this distance. Three, two, one . . . »
-BLAM!-
-RATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATAT!!-
*************
Mahandronis didn't notice the plasma shot until he was on the ground, his wing bleeding heavily. He noticed the smaller bullets streaming towards him, however, fast enough to leap into the air and support himself with his magic.
[glow=silver,2,300]I know that weapon from somewhere . . . [/glow]
He looked around for the source of the gunfire, but saw none. He again focused his attention on the fox-girl, and fired a bolt of silver energy from his left hand at her.
**************
[glow=white,2,300]"No!"[/glow]
Alexander fired a bolt of white energy at Keijina, and it formed a shield around her, deflecting the Relic's attack. Snapping his fingers, and calling a large battlesword into existance in the process, he ran towards the Relic and slashed at him, cutting him along the face.
[glow=white,2,300]"Keijina! Firehawk! Get them!"[/glow]
*************
[glow=silver,2,300]"Wraith! Get them!"[/glow]
*************
«Ahh, shall I get them, over?»
"Please do, over."
«Check. Over and out.»

"It's time for a little... flame. Now BURN." Firehawk concentrated a small flame in his palm and it began to grow slightly, becoming as large as his head. "Let's see how you handle this." He threw the flame at Mahandronis and then drew his sword. Even if I have to get in close and risk getting shot at point blank range, I will aid in the defeat of this Relic! He leapt into the air after his flame and slashed as he passed by, hoping for a solid hit.

Keijina looked up to see blinding light surrounding her. Her mouth fell open in shock. "Alexander..." she whispered, afraid of what protecting her would do to his defence system. When the light dimmed, she saw Mahandronis laying on the ground, his wing wounded, and bullets from an unknown source coming right at him. He, obviously, dodged the attack and levetated. She uttered a muffled curse as her predicton turned out to be true, but that didn't stop her. She pulled her katanas together and thrust at one of Wraith's eyes, pulling them apart as soon as they contacted with something. She leaped away and looked at her handywork. What she saw shocked her. There was another woman shooting at her target. ******************** [glow=red,2,300]Brook looked at the oversized bug with disgust. In her long years living, she managed to utterly loath one thing...bugs. She spat at the bugs feet and disappeared, appearing atop a tall rock. "Look, Sumi, war." she said with a grin. She aimed her gun and shot at Firehawk with a grin. "Let's make it more interesting." [/glow]

When the vulpine woman's dagger had flown towards her, Wraith had readied herself to twist sinuously, into a position to deflect the flickering blade; however, as Mahandronis sent it skittering over the loose shale of the hilltop by knocking it aside from its intended flight path, Wraith hissed in vexation, believing his block to be a useless waste of energy as it would have done nothing to her sable armored carapace. Then she saw the two glowing ember blades of the crescent swords aiming for her via the fox's dexterous hands.
Wraith leapt away from the vulpine woman attacking her, bringing Vindication high to block the twin curved blades, her surer footing granting her nigh perfect balance on the rough surface they danced upon. Suddenly, a woman appeared in front of Wraith, and the vulpine being backed off as the newcomer spat vehemently at Wraith's sharply clawed feet, expression of loathing manifest on her face. As suddenly as she'd appeared, the new woman blinked out, apparently of existence, though Wraith could still smell her individual scent through her antennae.
'No matter,' Wraith thought to herself; Mahandronis' cry for her to get them echoed after Alexander's call, ringing clarion round the hilltop upon which they battled, and Wraith clicked her mandibles in acquiesence. Steeling herself for a renewed assault, she struck forth once more at the other sword-fighter, her black adamantium blade glistening as wickedly as her ebon mandibles in the burning sight of the sun, sailing forward like a singular viper's fang seeking its hapless target.

"Hmm?" Firehawk looked up and saw a shot coming for him, and he reacted quickly. Dodging out of the way, he yelled, "I don't know who you are, but if you attack me then you are fair game!" He then sheathed his sword and pulled out his crossbow, loading it instantaneously, and fired it at the newcomer. Then he got into a defensive position for the incoming attacks he knew he would face soon.

Keijina was confused. She didn't know who the new people were, but they seemed slightly fimiliar. The incoming attack caught her off-balence, allowing a deep gash on the side of her leg. She cursed and sliced to one of the delecate legs. ********************* Brook laughed as the human tried to shoot her. She blinked out, then blinked in right behind him. She grabbed his wrists and brought them back in a bruising grasp. "You want fair, Birdy? Too bad," she whispered in his ear. "I don't play fair," her voice said gently in his mind. ********************* Sumi watched her daring sister. The two were inseperable and very dangerous. If anything dared to try and take Brook's life, Sumi would not be pleased. She stepped from the shadows to announce her preasence and smiled mischieviously at Mahandronis. She could sense his power and wanted to see how much he could use. She reached into his head, trying to get some information, with any luck he would sense her and put up walls. Sumi loved powerful enimies. She flicked her wrists again, one shooting at Alexander's solar-plexis, the other at the way-to-big bug's underside. They were instruced not to harm the Kitsune, so she resisted the urge to srike again. ((Weeee! I am super bored and so I posted this potentially god-moding post! I'm sorry, but I felt the need to spice it up and the only way to do that was the way I did it. So...there you go! Have fun trying to kill my pretties!)) ((It is 1 AM here so I am a bit hyper.))
