The girl let her curtain of hair fall accross her face, as she set down her large backpack. Wearing it made the knife sheeth at the small of her back ache, but she wasn't going to take off the shieth, nor loose the stuff she carried.
The girl sighed. It had been a long time since she had anything to eat. Her food had run out, but that had been hunting food anyway. It was the kind of food one ate when one was on a mission, hot in pursuit, not the kind of food to be consumed while one was lost in a city. She reached into her pocket, feeling for something. What ever the girl had been looking for, it was not there.
She shouldered her pack, and walked along the board walk, past white sand beaches where girls lazed in bikinis. Past the carnival rides where anyone could be lurking. Past the shady condos, rented for the summer. She walked purposefully toward the looming white building in the distance. It was so bright, looking at it hurt her eyes. She knocked on the back door.
