These 2 games are related to each other in that Xtreme Legends is a sort of... expansion to Dynasty Warriors 4. They've been working this system out since the 3rd game in the series, actually.
Anyway...
Dynasty Warriors 4 / Dynasty Warriors 4: Xtreme Legends
Platform: PS2 (only, as far as I know.)
Summary: Based off of the novel of the Three Kingdoms (telling the story of the three kingdoms of ancient China circa 3rd century), this game sends you into battle as one of... what, 40 characters? A staggering amount to be sure. Not only this, but you're going to be staring down literally hundreds (or sometimes even thousands) of troops down. Sometimes alone. That's when the fun begins, as you rip them a new one. This game is the ULTIMATE stress relief game if you're really good at it. Just do the right levels for it (when it says a level is tough, IT MEANS IT.)
Graphics: Well... this game is 3 years old, so it's all right for its time. You know, it does what it needs to. However, there is sometimes some pretty nasty slowdown from the sheer enormity of the armies.
Sound/Music: Voice acting. It's all right. Some of the characters are done quite well (for example, Lu Bu himself or Zhou Tai), but some, like Zhang Jiao sounds like they have something wrong with them. Zhang Jiao is a friggin' JOKE in this category... As for the music? Oh MY GOD. Wow. Sure, it's nothing like you'd expect... it's not like Chinese music. It's hard pounding rock, almost all the way. And it's not generic crap, either. It's got some SUPERB stuff, for example, the track Rivals.
Plot: Uh... Ancient China, you're at war, beat the other guys in a series of levels. Or, if in Legend Mode on Xtreme Legends, it gives you the history behind that level and off you go.
Overall: It's a fun game all around, gets a bit frustrating sometimes but hey, you're facing that much with one guy. I suggest any action game fans might want to take a look.
