Kathryn stood placidly on an empty dirt road, her gaze fixed on something non-existant in the distance. Tendrils of shoulder-length blonde hair blew gently into her eyes by the slight wind and she shook her head drowsily to get rid of them.
She felt oddly disconnected from the piece of land that she was standing on, as if she didn't belong there, despite having lived there for her entire existance. She experimentally moved each limb, just to make sure that they were still under her control, and took a deep breath, relishing in the flavors of the air around her.
What a pity that she never really explored the colors and textures of the land before. It made her sad that she had missed out on something so wonderful, and she felt a slight burning in the corner of her eyes.
A slight smile began to pull on the edges of her mouth as the sweet scent of mildew filled her nose. It was all so vivid . . .

A long and sad sigh drifted out of Kruck as he stared at the now hard and barren land surounding Olmen City. Sitting on a hill overlooking it, saddened him greatly more then could be put into words.
It used to be such a great place. They are rebuilding it, but it will never, ever be the same.
He thought grimly. It had been so peaceful when he'd last been here, and even though it had been a long while since he'd visited Olmen, he was devestated when he walked into the ruined city.
Peh.....but everyone knows that those kinds of good things never last.
Another sigh escaped his now dry and cracked lips. He'd been sitting here for hours, but time had no matter to him as he sat here. Sitting here, looking down at the city, it was his way of mourning the lost. He had water with him, but he just wanted to sit still .....looking....thinking.... Thinking about whats lost.....

Behind you.
Kathryn casually turned her head around, her eyes coming to rest on the form of a man. She knew that she really should be elsewhere, but it would be hard to leave. Besides, the man looked lonely.
Rememberance. Sad. Longing.
No, not lonely, just deep in thought. But he also seemed parched. She grabbed a canteen out of her backpack and then started walking toward the man. Even if he didn't want company, he would most likely be thankful for a drink.
English
"Hi, my name is Kathryn. Would you like something to drink?"
She smiled warmly, trying to ignore the pain surging through her body and the voices screaming in her head, and held out her canteen for the man to see.

Wha! Grasps for air were made quickly in repeated inhailes. It had flashed before her. The winged teenager moved the bottom of her wings in, as she decended, steady, like the first time ever in a new world. At least it was most likely the premier at this desolate land of missery.
Her big round eyes of pink and red stared at the two. Yet, they stole in everything before her.

Kruck's head turned slowly to see who dared interupt his thoughts. It was a girl, with blonde hair down to the shoulders. She was not tall yet not short either.
Kruck grunted as he saw the held out canteen, and his mean thoughts slowly melted away, as if a burden was taken off of him.
A large smile formed on his face, showing some of his teeth. He was shocked, ever sice he'd come here and learned of what had happened, he hadn't smiled at all.
But it felt so good to smile. So good He thought, his smile growing bigger. He felt like his face couldn't take it anymore, but the sudden happiness remained, as if afraid if it went it could never come back.
Finally his smile melted slowly off his face, but the happiness stayed. He was over come with the warmth inside him, the peace. He looked at the girl who stood there, he owed this to her. She was the first person who had approached him in days, everyone else was afraid of him.
"Thank you"
The smile was back after these thoughtful words, the first he'd spoken in what seemed like years. He took the waterbottle and sipped it, its cold and clear contents washing away any lingering pain that had been remaining.
He gave it back to her while wiping his mouth of with the cuff of his trenchcoat. "You have no idea what you've just done", Kruck informed her. "I-I owe everything to you....." Kruck broke off, he could not talk anymore,at the girl he just hoped his words made sense to the one who had saved his life.
He looked out across the barren land, yet this time it looked different, oh so different. He sighed, but this time, instead of a sigh full of sadness and disbelief, it was a sigh full of content and utter happiness.

Kathryn supressed a giggle. It was amazing how simple kindness could have such instantaneous and beautiful results. "You're welcome," she replied, a broad smile finding its place on her lips.
Her bag was full enough without the canteen, so Kathryn decided that she would just carry it around until she unloaded some of her stuff.
What an interesting town . . .
"You knew it before it was abandoned," she supposed that she should make it a question, and not really a statement; people were so frightened of magic. But her ability did not abide by her own thoughts or feelings, and she acted on what it revealed to her. She hoped that the boy would not be frightened, but somehow, at the same time, she seriously doubted that he wouldn't.
"Tell me about it," she requested. She figured that it would probably be a good way to get the boy to open up, although if she really wanted to know, she didn't have to ask . . .

"How'd you know that?" a look of curiousity swept over his face. It was not a threatening question, merely one asked out of curiousity, for he did not know this girl, or at least he didn't think he did.
Hmph, maybe I do. Kruck thought dully. Without waiting for an answer to his question, he decided to tell the girl a couple of things about him.
"This, this is where some of my closest friends lived." He said softly, remebering. He'd had great times in this city, it had been the first civilization he'd encountered when he'd first arrived on on this planet.
He was going to leave after he'd gotten supplies but the way he was greeted, with such warm friendliness fascinated him. He'd forgotten about such deep kindness and it drew him to stay amongst such people.
"I stayed here for about a year. " he recalled aloud.
But after staying a year, he was betrayed and kidnapped by several of his enemies who took him to the middle of the desert and left him there. He hadn't gotten a chance to come back here until now. But now its too late He thought sadly.
"I wonder if they missed me." He thought aloud, some of the sadness washing back over him. His eyes once again scanned the barren landscape, as if he were trying to will the city to come back to life.

'Most likely.' Taylor stepped assuraidly north until she was right outside their conversation. It was not exaclty know to her the feelings of those people.
The teenager looked blankly at the girl then preciously with soft eyes looked down at the sitting lad. Her face tingled with disapointment. It had not been a full lie but an edgucated guess. She proceded to redeme herself in her mind but tangeled her self up with confusing logic.
Some one missed someone.
'If they were kind in welcoming you, they must have been disapointed in your departing.'

Kruck's sad thoughts were interupted by a voice near them. He turned toward the sound of it and saw a young women right behind him.
"W-Who are you?" he stuttered, looking over her. She had purple hair, with kind of a haze over it. She had big red eyes that seemed to glow, not like devils have, but catious, curious eyes.
Kruck was getting a little fed up with all of these girls who just seemed to know what he was thinking and saying. (peh just hope your avatar is like ur charry)
But she's right
A little voice inside of him whispered to him, and he suddenly realized that the voice was correct. "She probably is right!" Kruck exclaimed joyfully. The pain washed away again, his soul at peace at last.
Kruck turned to the two girls. "Thank you. Both, you have done so much for my restless soul." he whispered, a single tear streaming down the side of his head and landing, salty, in his mouth. He smiled a carefree smile, and stood up. He was free.

Hmm . . . overreacting a bit, it would seem.
Kathryn turned placidly to the girl that was now standing next to her. She half-forced a genuine smile onto her lips and stuck out her hand, "Kathryn.
"As for you, I'm starting to wonder if you might be a bit over-dehydrated. How long had it been since you'd had water?"
Too long.
((Sorry for the shorty; I'm going to be late to Aikido! Eep!))

(peh yeah right haha j/k) Kruck assumed the question was directed to him, and paused to think. He concentrated very hard, his eyebrows bending in, and a drip of sweat coming down his face, though the sun most likely had more to do with this then concentration. After several minutes of intense concentratiion he finally got the answer that had been eluding him. He looked up, wiping the sweat of his brow. "About 4 days I think. I had a canteen with me, but I just couldn't, wouldn't drink it." But now Kruck took out his canteen and drank three long gulps of the cold, clear water. "But now I'm good, thanks to you, Kathryn." He spoke the name in a whisper, as if afraid that something would happen if he spoke it too loud. Kruck smiled. "Do you need anything? Money, weapons, you name it. I have plenty of money and weapons to go around, I'll give you pretty much anything you want."

((Yey! I have time off between schoolwork and volunteer work and Aikido! Posty posty posty . . . So sorry for the long wait.))
The mage considered the man's offer carefully. More than anything else, she hated for her kindess to be rewarded; it meant that the person would not pass along her well wishes to another unfortunayte soul. On the other hand, she was in desperate need of a staff of some sort. Maybe she could just ask for a little bit of guidance . . .
"Hmm. It's a tempting offer, I must confess, but I would hate for you to mistake my intentions as something that bneeds rewarding. I would like to ask a favor of you, though. Do you by chance know of a place where I could find myself a staff?"
She smiled at him in her warming way as she dusted her pants off. The place had a gentle homey feeling to it, but it was very unclean.

"A staff. Hmmm...."
Kruck tried to think of where there were a lot of trees, for that was where he assumed would be most helpful.
"I know of several places." He said at last. "One of the places, the Wasteland of Despondance, is the closest to where we are now."
Kruck paused for a minute to remember the other places. "Also the Surla Forest, in the country of Chalegra, and Sumpa lake, aldo in chalegra. The only other one I can think of is the Gondora Swamplands in Valitor. That would probably be the best choice."
Thinking over what he'd just said, he realized he'd forgotten something. "The reason for the swamplands being the best place is I can guide you to some of the best trees on this planet, for I know that area well."

'A staff? You are a travelier or a magician then?' Taylor commented after the now replenished boy. She should have kept her mouth clamped, for somereason this information was already known to her but, she hadn't bekkoned it from her memory yet.
(sry for the long wait too, busy)

Alexander walked through the ugly swamp and came upon a small gathering of people. "Say, you wouldn't happen to have seen a man named "Kruck" around here haven't you?" He half-yelled towards the gathering whilst walking towards them.
