Mega Man Battle Network databaseThis is a highly detailed explanation of the Mega Man Battle Network side of the Net. It (will) include(s) an entire list of battle chips, program advance info, term definitions, power-up programs and everything else that is part of the MMBN universe. (oh yeah…every thing is copyright of Capcom. There now nobody can sue me! ) First off, you’ll need to be able to understand the terminology used in The Net. Here is the list of terms and phrases you will need to know. (I can add to the list if there is ever a word somebody doesn’t understand) Term information PET: This stands for PErsonal Terminal. PETs evolved from cell-phones. They can make calls, send e-mails, store data, check news, etc. Every PET has a navi installed in it. Navi: Short for Network Navigator. A navi is an Internet avatar that you can jack-in to the main network. Once the navi is in the network, it can perform many duties- send e-mail, interact with other navis, talk, and most importantly of all, bust viruses. Jack-in: Jacking-in is the process of sending your navi from your PET into the Internet. This is done by inserting a jack (cord) into the port of an electronical device. Not all electronical devices are connected to the rest of the Internet. Virus busting: When the Net society became established in the year 20xx, it made a new page in history- the Internet era. However, with this great accomplishment came several new problems. The greatest of these was net crime, and as well virus infestations. In order to protect their PETs, people began installing small data chips encoded with battle programs- Battle Chips. Using these chips to delete viruses is known as virus busting. Battle chips: Battle chips are programs installed on small chips (close to a mini floppy disc) that are used for virus busting. The data is sent to the navi by inserting the battle chip into the side of the PET. Battle chips do not get ‘used up’- you can use them as many times as you want. Battle chips can be acquired by buying them from Net Traders and by deleting viruses. Net battle: A net battle is when two navis face off in combat in cyberspace. There are many net battle competitions held all over the Net. Rules for net battles can vary, as decided by the operators engaging in the battle, or a referee if it is a staged tournament. The winner of a battle has the right, if he so desires, to receive a battle chip from the loser. In a net battle, navis usually log out (forcibly) on a fatal blow, so as to prevent the navi from permanent deletion. However, this protection lock can be overrun, so be careful when you think about challenging someone to a net battle! Delete: Deleting is exactly as it sounds… to destroy or erase a database, virus, or navi. If your navi gets deleted, it is gone forever! Cyberspace: The cyber world is a partly a replication of real world objects. For example, if there is a slide somewhere in the real world, a tiny replica would exist in that part of space in the network. The Net is truly vast. Navis can even go places that their operators can’t! Operator: The person in control over a navi, usually the owner of the PET the navi is installed into. Log out/ jack-out: Logging out and jacking-out are the same thing, but the two terms are generally used in different situations. Jacking-out is when the operator pulls the plug from the port and returns his or her navi to its PET. Logging out is usually referring to a navi leaving the Net as a safety precaution. Navis that are beaten by other navis are forced by the PET system to jack-out to prevent deletion. It is possible for navis to be unable to jack-out at certain times, including when dealt a fatal blow in a net battle. Zenny: Internet currency. Can be found by finding mystery data or by deleting viruses. Mystery data: These are greenish diamonds that hold special data that must be decoded before its properties can be obtained. Mystery data can hold Zenny, battle chip data, sub-chips, and other data. Some mystery data are actually viruses in disguise. Sub-chip: Special data that is usable outside of combat. They are used for healing your navi, untrapping mystery data, etc. Sub-chips are bought from Net Traders. Net Trader: Net Traders are Internet salesmen. They offer battle chips, power-up programs (info on that later on), sub-chips, custom parts and other necessities. Each item costs a certain amount of Zenny. Links: Links are warp-points that allow a navi to travel from one section of the Net to another instantly. Operators that have a home page (Allotted Net space as a ‘home’) for their navis often have a link. Links also allow travel between web sites and other areas. Battle routine: A pre-set battle program that consists of all the powers and abilities a navi has. That way, navis can both use battle chips AND use their own special, unique powers.

I’m going to place the information into 3 categories: Basic, Intermediate, and Expert. That way you can figure out the basics, but if you aren’t a fanatic then you don’t have to read through the more advanced stuff. This should help you understand things easier.
Basic- Battle Explanation
In battles, your navi can use both battle chips that are sent by the operator, and their pre-set battle routines. This means that navis can use both chips and their powers. Battle chips are sent to your navi by inserting the chip into the side of your PET. Battle chips all have the following data:
>Battle chip name >Chip code (not necessary) >Attribute. This is the element type of the chip. There are 5 elements in all. They are fire, water (ice is under the water category), electric, wood, and no attribute (normal). Attributes also apply to navis’ powers (for ex., Sugar’s ice attacks would do water based damage), as well as to the navis themselves. (Navis like Sugar can have a weakness to fire if Sakura instead of electric, even though ice is part of the water attribute) Each attribute has a weakness to another attribute. Fire is weak to water, water to electric, electric to wood, and wood to fire. Normal type attacks do not have weaknesses. >Attack Power- how much damage the attack does. Some chips don’t do damage, but instead effect the navi’s status, or the battlefield itself.
Battle chips have unlimited amount of usage, so they don’t ever get ‘used up’. However, in most Net Battles or Net tournaments, there is a rule that you can only use each chip in a battle once.
The basic battle set-up is very simple. It’s mostly like regular rp battles. Here is a list of all the battle chips, plus a few that I designed. (I haven’t gotten every single one. These are just all the ones I do have, although I’m leaving out a few unneeded ones) The attribute of a chip is shown by letter abbreviation: Fire is F, Water is W, Electric is E, and Wood is Wd. No attribute is just a dash (-). “ is for ‘ditto’ meaning the same as the chip above it.
BN list Chip name Attribute Attack Power Description
Cannon - 40 A large cannon that fires straightforward. High Cannon - 80 “ Mega Cannon - 120 “
Shotgun - 30 Shot goes through enemy to hit targets behind it. CrossGun - 30 Shotgun that spreads diagonally. Spreader - 30 Wide blast range.

MiniBomb, Little Bomb, CrossBomb, Big Bomb - 50, 50, 70, 90 Throwing bombs with increasing power and range.
CyberSword - 80 A 3.5 foot long blade that can either be held (like a normal sword), or be attached as a part of the navi’s arm (like how Mega Man uses it). CyberSwords are lightsaber-like swords that glow, but are thin and flat on one side, not thick as some real world swords are. WideSword - 80 Wider than the CyberSword. LongSword - 80 A 6 ft. long sword that is still easy to handle despite its larger size. FighterSword - 100 Fighter Swords are 8 ft. long, and are incredibly thin and light for their size. The tip is incredibly sharp and can cut through almost anything. KnightSword - 150 The most powerful of the CyberSword series, the Knightsword is 8 ft. long, but is very thick, wide, and heavy. Most navis are not physically strong enough to hold this sword with their hands, so they have to attach it to their arm in order to use it.
Fire Sword F 100 A flaming 3.5 ft. sword that can easily leave burn marks upon contact. (all the others in this series are 3.5 foot long as well) Aqua Sword W 150 Aqua sword that is very powerful. Electric Sword E 120 An electric type sword. Bamboo Sword Wd 140 A sharp sword made of yound bamboo.
ShockWave, SonicWave, Dynamic Wave - 60, 80, 100 An attack that shoots an energy wave across the ground.

Quake - Varies depending on the size of the earthquake.
Ice Punch W 80 A physical ice attack.
Dash - 90(BN 3) A super-speed attack that launches you at your opponent at blinding speeds.
Ratton (series) - Rattons are controlled robots that launch small rat-like homing missiles across the ground. The damage varies depending on the power of the Ratton.
Wave (series) W, F 60-160 Aquatic or lava waves that can cover the entire battlefield. The bigger the wave, the more powerful it is.
Gaia (series) - 130 A rolling explosion triggered by slamming the ground forcefully with a large hammer.
Thunder (series) E 90-150 Shoots a ball of electricity across the ground. The target is paralyzed on contact.
Ring Zap (series) E 100 per hit Rings of electricity surge around the user in an offensive and defensive move.
(more coming...there are many many battle chips so I can't do them all at once)

Cloud, Cloudier, Cloudiest W A cloud appears over opponent and rains a torrent of water down upon them. Can be either a weak drizzle or a devastating downpour.
Mine - 200 A land mine placed randomly near the opponent-invisible until something hits it.
Dynamite (series) A long and powerful explosive blast that is triggered once any object passes through the red target laser.
Remote Smasher (series) E 80-120 A floating robot virus that sends electricity down from above, deleting panels as it goes.
Lock on (series) - 10-20 A weak but highly accurate attack that uses a small satellite and a homing system. Once locked on, the satellite will unleash a barrage of machine gun fire.

Intermediate- Program Advances, Navi Armor, Navi Chips, Virus Breeding
If you use the right chips in a certain order, the chips blend together to form a more powerful attack. There are two kinds of P.A.s: "Sequential", and "Hidden".
"Sequential" Program Advances are activated whenever chips in a series are used in succession. These all have 'Zeta' in the name, so you can tell them apart from the other kind of P.A. To help clear things up, here is an example. Zeta Cannon 1: Cannon A, B, C /B, C, D/ C, D, E [5 second invincibility, cannon shots have 100 power] (don't worry about the letter code after the chip name- I decided not to require that for our net rps. It would just get you all more confused. Simple explanation: Use the same chip thrice in a row to activate a program advance)
"Hidden" P.A.s are trickier to activate. These are attacks that involve creative combos of different chips, instead of using the same one. These attacks tend to be more powerful than the other kind of Program Advance, since they are harder to discover. An example: Life Sword: Sword, WideSword, LongSword [400 damage; wide sword 6 feet long]
Create your own creative Program Advance moves! If you have a new idea for a combined attack, you can make it and copyright it, meaning only you can use the P.A. you invented. If you don't understand...just...try to think up new cool moves, okay? I don't know of any other way to put it...PM me if you get an idea.
Navi Armor: Navis can be equipped with elemental armor that doubles their defense value, and the wearer gains that attribute. There are four armors for the four attributes: Heat Armor, Aqua Armor, Wood Armor, and Shock Armor. So...if your navi has one of these armors on...attacks that would do 100 damage now do 50! But, there is one downside...If your navi is hit by an attack that has the attribute your armor is weak to...[ie wood hit by fire], then the double defense ability is NULLIFIED, AND the damage you would have received without the armor is DOUBLED! That means... Fire Ratton, which normally does 230 damage, would do 460 damage to Wood Armor!
Every navi has their own chip, which can be used by other navis to summon their powers during battle. For ex., Kurai is currently searching for the Sailor chips, so he can have Kirby break all the filters to Hentai sites. Hmmm... that's iffy... Anyway, if you were to use "Marth.EXE" chip, Marth would appear and do one of his slashy moves, and then go away. Navis usually give their chip to their navi friends, so try to gain as many allies as possible to get a lot of powerful battle chips!
Sometimes when you defeat a virus, it doesn’t get deleted. Instead, it submits to you, and you can train it and summon its powers during battle. Captured/subdued viruses are sent to the virus breeder, where they are kept safe from possible hackers or viruses. They gain power as you feed them bug frags. Whenever you capture a virus, you gain its chip, which you can use to summon its powers.

Advanced- Navi Customizer, Style Changes, Programming details
The information in this section is highly advanced, and you may be confused trying to grasp what it is I'm saying here. But don't just ignore this stuff! This is how your navi will become truly powerful, and the Net board will be twice as much fun if you all apply this stuff. Bear with me! Believe me, it's worth it.
The Navi Customizer, once installed into you PET, allows you to use Program Blocks on a grid that starts off 4x4 squares big. (you can increase its size by finding Memory Expansions) Basically, you place Tetris-like pieces on a grid, and those program pieces give your navi new powers. Each program does different things to your navi. There are three rules for installing programs properly. 1. Command Programs must touch the command belt. (the command belt is just the middle row which is used to run the Customizer.) 2. Plus Parts (power programs like atk +1) should not touch the command belt. 3. Each Program Block has a color. Programs should NOT touch other programs with the same color.
Okay, that MAY look difficult to you, but it's not really as complex as it sounds. What you do is you look at the list I have here of Program Blocks, and you decide which ones you would like to use. As long as you have enough room in your customizer, you can do whatever you like. Easy enough?
But...if you don't program your navi properly (don't obey all the rules), your navi will get one or several bugs (program errors). These can have varied effects on your navi, and cause all kinds of problems. For ex., your navi might constantly move in one direction, or suffer from lapses in its memory. In short, not good! Though, using a bugged navi could become a good strategy...
Here is a list of MOST of the Program Blocks. You'll have to get the others by Style Changing...The number after the explanation is the size of the Program Block.
>BreakCharge (CP, orange): Battle Routines pierce through 'power break's, solid walls, or other obstacles that they normally could not pierce. Size:5 >SetMetal (CP, green): Repairs holes in network floor. 5 >MegaFolder1 (CP, pink, green): Allows you to use one more navi chip during battle. 5 >Compress (CP, white): Enables you to shrink your navi's data. Navi can go across small walkways or holes, etc. Hard to hit during battle. 3 >EnergyChange (CP, white): Converts chips with elemental attributes into energy. 4 >SneakRun (CP,yellow): Prevents weak viruses from appearing. 5 >OilBody, Fish, Battery, Jungle (CP-yellow, pink, yellow, white): Viruses of [attribute] appear more often. 5 >Collect (CP, purple): Find more data about viruses. Helps you find weaknesses, useful info. 7 >WeaponLV+1(PP, purple): Increase power of Battle Routines[charge attacks better]. 3 >HP+100 (PP, purple, yellow): Increases max HP by 100. 4 >HP+200 (PP, purple, yellow): HP increases by 200. 5 >HP+300 (PP, Purple): HP + 300. 6 >Attack+1 (PP, purple, yellow): Increases Battle Routine attack power. 3 >Speed+1 (PP, white, yellow): Increases the speed of Battle Routines. The navi's travelling speed does not increase. 1 >Charge+1 (PP, purple, white): Charged attacks more powerful. 1 >BlackMind (CP, white): Makes you look really evil and devious. Can be used as a disguise. May trigger additional powers for evil navis...
...And there you have the list of Program Blocks. Now to the fun stuff...

If you bothered to figure out the Navi Customizer, you can make your navi superbly powerful...Style Changes can only occur to Navis that use the Customizer. Style Changes are alterations that occur to a navi (using the Navi Customizer, of course) that fights with a certain ‘style’ or battle plan(ex: Using lots of fire chips or Invis.chips). This grants them new powers, which vary by style, and the navis can still use their old abilities. Navis using a Style Change can’t use Elemental Armor (Intermediate section), but they can gain elemental attributes through Style Changing.
The level of a Style can be leveled up by gaining the right amount exp from battles. In order to gain the first level of a style, you must gain 250 exp points. By gaining more exp, the level increases, until that style is mastered (all abilities learned). Getting to lvl 2 takes 500 exp, lvl 3, 700, and growing to lvl 4 or above takes 1000 exp points. Each Style can grow up to lvl. 4 (some only go up to 3; a few go up to 5). Each time your navi’s Style levels up, you gain a unique Program Block, which you can’t get any other way. This is how you can create an uberly powerful navi. Which Style you use is up to you. Here is a list of Style Changes, their abilities, and the Program Blocks each style earns you. (note: Element types are not advanced)
>Heat Element Gains the power to use a flamethrower as an attack. Lava panels cause no damage, and can increase power. Weak to water. >Aqua Element Prevents slipping on ice panels(increases traction). Power is a spreading bubble cannon. Weakness is electricity. >Wood Element Grass panels heal user. Power attack is a tornado that hits multiple times. Weak to fire. >Electric Element Fires stunning Ring Zaps that paralyze the target for a few seconds. Weak to wood.
>Guts Style This style gives the user a Guts Machinegun (infinite ammo), and power gloves that can really cause some harm if you land a punch straight to the kisser! This style is activated by using many projectile attacks or physical attacks. Program Color-red Lvl 2: SpareArmor Lvl 3: BreakBurst Lvl 4: BreakCharge
>Shield Style Defense all the way! By using many barrier chips, you can tap into the shield style. This grants the user with a barrier that protects the user from infinite damage, but can only sustain the first hit, then disappears for the rest of the battle. Program Color-blue 2: Block 3: Shield 4: Reflect
>Custom Style This style is gained with frequent use of combo moves. This grants powers to learn more combo moves, and customize the details of your navi’s attacks or battle routines if the operator chooses to change anything via programming. Program Color-blue 2: Custom1 3: Custom1 (yellow) 4: Custom2
>Team Style If you like to summon your buddy navis in battle, you can gain this power. You can carry more Navi chips, and you can possibly learn some of your navi friends’ moves! Program Color-Green 2: MegaFolder1 3: MegaFolder1 (pink) 4: MegaFolder2
>Bug Style This style is truly bizarre. It is the result of using an interesting tactic: Battling with an improperly customized navi. This style nullifies all bugs initially created, and instead a random assortment of bugs are chosen for every battle. These usually have positive effects, like max power for battle routines, or temporary invunerability. But some negative effects might occur, including a continual drain of your HP, or constant movement forced in one direction (can’t stop walking). It’s risky to use, but its powers can be most helpful. Program Color-dark 2: BugStop 3: DarkLcns
>Ground Style By frequently using chips that alter the battlefield (lavastage, grassstage, etc.), you can get the Ground Style, as well as a pair of boots meant for rompin’! Though at first you only gain the ability to alter the surrounding area to your element type, the Program Blocks you can gain from this style up your area changing powers. Program Color-green 2: SetGreen (repair broken floors) 3: SetIce 4: SetLava 5: SetHoly
>Shadow Style This whooshy and shifty style is gained by frequent use of Invis chips. Its powers are mostly evasive. Its initial power is turning into shadow for a few seconds (must charge before you can turn to shadow). This ninja-like style is both sneaky and cool. Program Color-red 2: ShadowShoe 3: FloatShoe 4: AntiDamage

Those were all the styles straight from the MMBN 3 game. The following are my own creative ideas. The number after the Program Block is the size of the block.
>Vee-gee Style Harnessing the power of nerds everywhere, the Vee-gee Style is both powerful and unique. During battle, Navis representing video game characters can be summoned, though, at least at first, the user can’t choose which characters will appear. Both heroes and villians can be summoned, so the user must be extremely cautious. The later levels of this style enable the navi to gain the characters’ powers. This style is learned by using powers originating from video games. Program Color-red 2: 2Xvg [2, purple] 3: Good/Evil [1, white] 4: ChooseAll [4] 5: PowerShare [6]
>Blade Master Style This style is tapped into by using many sword chips or sword battle routine attacks. It grants various sword-related powers, such as increased sword speed & power, and the ability to forge blades instantly. The initial ability of this style is the power to weild any blade, no matter how awkward or large. Program Color-blue 2: Speed/Power+ [2] 3: BladeSkillUp [3] 4: BladeCraft [pink, 5]
>TruePower Style TruePower is different for all navis. If you fight using your navi’s original powers (battle routines), then you can access this style. TruePower brings out the true ability of a navi by doubling its powers. With this power, a navi gains its true title as well (Kirby- StarWarrior; Dr. Mario-Physician). Program Color-gold 2: PowerSurge [3] 3: OmegaPower [6]
>Medic Style Live! You can gain healing powers by using many recovery chips. Each level up increases your healing powers. Program Color-pink ~~I don’t know what kind of programs to make for this, so...let’s just say the programs you earn for this differ depending on your navi, and you guys can just invent your own ideas for Program Blocks for this Style if you choose to use it.~~
>Hero Style Let justice prevail! By serving the cause of what is right, you can gain this style. Program Color-white (I need ideas for program abilities for this style. Be sure to PM me if you have any ideas!)
>Evil Style If you are evil, and proud of it, you can access this dark style. Gain dark powers, and increase your ability to summon your minions! Program Color-dark (I need ideas for program abilities for this style. Be sure to PM me if you have any ideas!)
>Matrix Style All is not as you think it is...If you took the right pill, you can access this powerful style. Hacking powers, bullet time, gun spawning...the list of abilities this style has is as vast as each ability is powerful! The starting power of the Matrix Style is the ability to enter and exit the ‘net at will. Unlike other styles, the levels of the Matrix Style can be learned out of order. All hail the power of Zion! Program Color-Silver 2: Hacker Lvl 3 (Lvl 2 of Hacker not included) [4] 3: GunSpawn [3] 4: BulletTime [4] 5: Matrix Control [6]
These are all the style changes right now. I’ll add more as I come up with new ideas. If you have an idea, PM me, and I’ll add it to the list.
Lastly, you can program styles into your navi, meaning that you can have them start with some initial powers which they might not have otherwise. You can have up to four levels of Style Changes pre-programmed, except for Flaming Moogles (Matt come back to the net you were awesome!), since he’s really powerful. An example to help explain it to you…
Marth.Exe Pre-programmed data: Blade Master Style lvl. 3, Matrix Style lvl. 5 only. This means that Marth has all the abilities of Blade Master levels 1, 2, and 3, as well as Matrix level 5. Marth does not have levels 1-4 for Matrix.
And that should be everything for the ‘Net board. If you have any ideas, suggestions, questions, complaints, or comments, be sure to PM me about it so I can adjust whatever needs changing. Now jack-in and transmit! -Rayan Stiger, operator of Marth.Exe

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that. You can use up to TWO styles at a time. Like Sword and Matrix. PLUS you can also use whatever styles you pre-program into your navi.
