Kruck's eyes widened as Trunis fell to the ground, shot. "NO!" His eyes flashed with anger and some confusion; why did ths creature have to hate so much? Kruck raised hs gun and aimed it carefully at the man floating high in the air. "Die you fool!" he yelled, pulling the trigger. (No need to fear, Kruck is here! )

As the Mahandronis floated into the air, Longshanks heavily beat his ebony wings and rose into the sky himself, hovering several meters from the abomination who had his guns ready to fire. As Longshanks flew up, Mahandronis fired, and Longshanks' heart wrenched with the knowledge that he could not block the shots and prevent pain for the others. He heard the gasps of pain escape the lips of both Alexander and Triunis. Anger flared in his heart, and Longshanks snarled bestially, but reigned in his wrath with the remembrance of Mahandronis' bad reactions to love, and instead focused on replacing his ire with an image of Mellira. Warmth surged in his heart for her, not the burning fire of wrath but the comforting blanket of affection. Raising high his dark blade and channeling his good feelings into it, the Orion cried havoc and prepared to reap the whirlwind as he surged forward with a great beating of his wings, his trench coat flowing valiantly in the rushing air, falchion steady in his grasp. "You will fall!" his voice boomed out as his blade fell, swift as the viper's strike, aimed directly for the Mahandronis' neck.

Mahandronis flew out of the way, but still felt the blade slish his forearm. He could feel no pain, since he was not designed to, but he could see the blood pouring out of his wounded limb and knew it was not a good thing. Now angry, the relic reoriented his gun so it faced Longshanks and fired.

Sensing imminent danger and doubting, Longshanks ran in cricles, screaming and shouting.
((In one parallel universe at least))
Longshanks snarled as the Mahandronis dodged his blow, but the expression transformed into a grin as he observed the damage it did nonetheless, slicing the creature's arm and causing blood to flow. However, as the abomination once more readied his gun and aimed it directly at the Orion, his grin turned once more to a bestial snarl. He twisted catlike in the air as the trigger was pulled, hoping to avoid most of the blast, but was hit by a good smattering nevertheless. Crimson mist errupted from his side as it had in Dathomir, accompanied by his roar of pain.
Longshanks did not realize that he had closed his eyes until he opened them, finding himself heading directly for the ground of the city below. Bracing himself to feel agony again, he smashed heavily into the ground, and heard a terrible crunching as his left shoulder collided with hard asphault. He wondered if it was broken, but ignored the suffering as he climbed stoically to his feet, teeth bared, his injured left arm holding the wound in his side closed as best he could. Crimson blood spilled forth onto the ground beneath him, pooling slowly but inexorably around his booted feet. His breathing labored, Longshanks resiliently raised his falchion once more, readying to continue this mortal duel. An image of Mellira played in his mind's eye and he smiled, despite his suffering, as his memories related to him the warmth of her in his arms, her cheek against his chest. He would not die here, not now, not by the Mahandronis' hands; he would survive and see Mellira again.
Longshanks' back straightened, his proud posture returned, ravenesque wings spreading wide once more. Raising his blade high so that the sun dazzle glanced blindingly in his foe's eyes, Longshanks cried out defiantly his people's ancient battle cry and leapt into the air, ebony wings beating heavily. "Oerhthasakh!" He raised his dark blade and cut down, aiming once more for the Mahandronis' neck.

Firehawk again entered a town to the sounds of a raging battle. "Seems I'm just attracted to trouble these days." He ran towards the sound, and found Longshanks, the man from before. Before in Dathomir... He remembered that battle with a bit of regret. "It was useless..." he said to himself. He looked into the sky, and saw the being Longshanks was fighting against. Somehow... he seems familiar... the guns... Oh dang it all! The same guns as the one he had fought. He recognized them, he had nearly been shot by them! "How can this be... is the other one dead?" He rushed in, along with the others around. He suddenly felt a surge of heat travel through him, and quickly he receded back again, holding his head in pain. "NO! NOT... NOW!" He tried his hardest, the heat became more fierce. Suddenly, he appeared to be fine... Then he spoke. "Well... it's good to be out of there... but where the hell is this?" Firehawk was now conquered by his evil side... and he cared for no other beings.

Mahandronis closed his eyes and shook his head. He was geting tired of being outnumbered. The Relics were created for . . . well, only they knew their true purpose, and they weren't saying anything. But whatever it was, it involved the odds being against them very frequently. So Mahandronis was prepared for this eventuality.
He put away his guns, and his right arm began to shift. In moments, it was the true Relic, the elongated cannon which he so often used. He spun the dial on it, setting it to ".02." It was a very high number, and he knew that it was one of his most powerful settings. He fired at the ground, and streams of meteors began cascading onto the street. Each about three inches in diameter, the flaming rocks slammed into the ground and left tiny craters, than vanished. Without stopping to see if he had hit, he dropped to the ground and started running. When his enemies teamed up, it was time for him to leave.

DoubleX brought up a shield spell. The small rocks broke apart or disintegrated as they hit the barrier. He formed a ball of fire in his hands and sent it flying towards the relic, he had heard of his kind before, and took off at him through the air...

"What the..." Firehawk immediately dodged out of the way of the clumsy attack. "I doubt that was very wise. I do not take kindly to any who attack me." As if out of nowhere, Firehawk's phoenix wings, the wings of his namesake, appeared. He slowly rose into the air, taking his crossboiw and loading it to its limit of 10 bolts. "Let's see how this fares!" Firehawk fired straight at his newfound adversary. The bolts flew through the air, all grouped together. I cannot stand people that think they are better than me. Even if it is true. This guy obviously thinks he can get away from everyone... but not from me. I'm far to persistent to escape from. He flew to the side, keeping a fair distance away from the enemy. "Hmph. I cannot let him get away. Not after he shot at everyone. Not that I care about the others."

Chii jumped back, attempting the dodge the bullet, but stopped, seeing Triunis drop. Her mouth began quivering while her eyes welled up, an expression of pure pain on her face.
"Triunis!" she said faintly, falling to her knees, her hands reaching toward him. "Don't leave me. Don't you dare." she said in a soft voice, finding a tear dripping off her small nose. "I never got to tell you how much I loved you." she flung her arms around him, letting a torrent of salty, burning tears soak his robes.
She turned her head slowly, looking up at the thing who had hurt Triunis. She hadn't even realized someone else had been hurt, too, the excruciatingly painful feeling that someone had just wrenched out her heart had overpowered her, and she had no desire to do anything else except for destroy the thing that had hurt Triuinis or heal Triunis.
She stood up, letting her hair fall in front of her. Glowing so brightly it almost became unbearable to look at her, the aura began to slowly seperate from her and form around Triunis while she began walking toward the Mahandronis. She threw the pink ball of magic that she had been holding at the Relic. If it worked, it would create a net around him, which would tie him down to the ground, making it easier for everyone to kill him.

Triunis' eyes opened, and he listened to Chii's words. And as he did so, a thought came to his mind, and then became words which he said to his friend.
" . . . And I love you, Chii."
[glow=purple,2,300]Know what? I WILL help out. First, you're off the hook. I'm not going to try to kill you. Secondly . . . well, you'll have to see now, won't you?[/glow]
Hearing the words, Triunis smiled grimly.
Thank you, Ceylette.
He stood up, rubbing his arm. It would heal. In the meantime . . .
*************
Mahandronis was now thoroughly irritated. That happened whenever there were a lot of people shooting at him. He narrowly dodged the pink blast flying at him, felt several bolts stick in his skin, and felt the full heat of a fireball hit him. He kept moving, not feeling any pain. He knew that his body was expendable, but he didn't feel like losing it.
[glow=silver,2,300]Do they want more still? Fools![/glow]
".01."
Without breaking stride or even turning around, the Relic blasted off many rounds of searing white bullets at those behind him. He wondered how long he could keep this up . . .
**************
Alexander didn't have time to stop the bullets, nor to react to them. He didn't even cry out in pain when one of them slammed through his chest, splattering blood and bone on the asphalt behind him. He fell to the ground, and felt at his robe. Looking at his hand, he saw a silvery blood on it, and tears came to his eyes. He had so much to do, he couldn't let that thing kill him . . .
"I . . . can't have . . . failed . . ."

DoubleX stopped suddenly in the air and noticed an...angel? Possibly. He poured more mana into his shield and came to level with the angel-like being holding the crossbow. He had only heard stories speaking of angels. Amazing, it was, considering the number of planes and worlds he had travelled to, that he had never actually seen one before. "You seem to be a worthy fighter, care to accept a challenge?" DoubleX smiled, hoping he would be able to fight this new adversary. ((OOC - How's that Kruck? ))

Longshanks beat his ebony wings heavily, rising higher into the air, avoiding the falling rocks as he ignored the pain in his side. He snarled as the Mahandronis turned to fleeand continued to rise, higher towards the heavens until he cleared the buildings around the battlefield, and the people still on the ground seemed closer in size to insects than aught else. A tear trickled down one of Longshanks' cheeks for Chii and Triunis, whom he observed far below, the lizard prone while Chii bent concernedly over him. But Longshanks could not spare the time to aid them at the moment, after all, he would be helping everyone shortly, he hoped.
Hovering lightly on a gust of wind like some majestic bird of brey, Longshanks sighted the Relic with his keen grey eyes. Preparing himself, the Orion leaned forward, folded back his tremendous, ravenesque wings, and stooped in the manner of the falcon, lancing swiftly downward towards the ground at an extraordinary speed, his diving taking him past the strange person with fiery wings and the other floating next to him--hold, wasn't that Firehawk? Oh well, that wasn't Longshanks' concern at the moment. Shooting past at incredible speed, the Orion swiftly gained on his fleeing quarry, the Mahandronis, above the blind shots that he fired off behind himself. Raising high his black sword as he came up behind the relic, Longshanks swung it down once more to cleave the Relic's neck as he passed in front of it, spreading his wings and twirling in midair to complete the deadly, darkly glittering arc created by his swiftly slashing falchion.

Mahandronis jumped to evade the Orion's attack, but too late. He felt a slashing at his back, and knew that his spine had been cut. Losing control of his legs, he slammed facefirst into the asphalt, shivering with rage.
Even as metallic fibers began to take the place of damaged nerves, Mahandronis pulled himself to his feet. He turned around and decided that he was done playing around with these fools.
".1."
His highest setting. The relic continued tampering with the gun and looked at his adversary, smiling slightly.
[glow=silver,2,300]"All opposition shall be crushed, even you!"[/glow]
Pulling the trigger, he could sense that he'd made a mistake. The weapon began to hum and shiver, and grew intensly hot. Moisture appeared on it, quickly evaporating. Even little whisps of plasma licked out of the end of the barrel, and Mahandronis' flesh began to burn.
Finally, it cooled off. For a second, nothing happened. Then, a continuous white beam about four inches wide slammed out of the gun, making a shrieking noise as air molecules simply vanished from existance. Though he began with it aimed at Longshanks, the force knocked Mahandronis off his feet and onto the ground. As such, the beam changed course, though it was firing at his foe long enough to serve its purpose. When the beam finally stopped, he was not moving. Almost all of his energy had been spent on that final attack.
Looking up, Mahandronis noticed with some satisfaction that the shot was headed for Chii. Good. That would make life easier. Or rather, the deprivation thereof.
*****************
Triunis opened his eyes, and found himself gazing at Chii once more.
This makes no sense! I love Saya! How can I feel this for . . .
But I do. That is what matters.
The monarch stood up, and looked around at all the destruction. Pieces of buildings lay strewn about, and he could see blood everywhere. Looking over, he saw Alexander lying on the ground, and sighed.
A good man. What a waste.
But when he looked down into Chii's eyes, everything felt better. Nothing seemed to be wrong.
"Thank you, my friend. For everything."
Seconds later, he saw the blast headed for the android.
****************
[glow=purple,2,300]Get up, you numbskull. You're not dead yet. In fact . . .
. . . you're off the Triunis assignment. And also, you've been promoted. Now quit acting like a debilitated kappa and move![/glow]

He clicked the trigger, but instead of feeling recoil, as he should have, he heard a dull click. He looked frantically at the gun in front of him: what was wrong.
Oh d**n it all! I forgot to reload it after I used it last time. Gees, how stupid can you get?
He chastised himself for being so stupid: it very well could cost his friends their lives. Thinking of his friends, he looked over at Truinis and Chii. To his surprise, they looked OK, although Truniis was still on the ground.
But then he glanced at the evil creature who wanted all killed. He had a menacing gun in his hands. Indeed, it looked as if it could blast someone's head off with one single shot. The creature looked to be fiddiling with it, then a large white beam flew suddenly out of the gun....headed towards none other then Chii. He quickly cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled at the top of his lungs,
"Chii, LOOK OUT!"
