His joints complaining from the cold, Cethyn hobbled over to Mequidra, Kruck, and the odd shadow being. He regarded this new entity carefully, waving his antennae about its head and taking in its odd scent. Adding the scent to his library of smells, he turned to Mequidra.
"Who is this odd being before us?" he asked Mequidra and Kruck of DarkUmbra.

((Cythen, I believe that I closed the vent with shadow magic.))

(Yeah I'd mod that Cethyn)
Kruck followed Cethyn's gaze to a weird shape, it was dark and shadows were all around it.
"Uhhhh. I dunno what it is" Kruck answered truthfully, for he did not know. "Do you know, Mequidra?" he asked, curiousity in his voice as he stared at the creature.

Having no sight but super hearing has its advantages. Advantages such as, well, super hearing. It allowed DarkUmbra to hear the figure's querry.
[glow=purple,2,300]I am DarkUmbra, the shadows are mine to command. I am well aquainted with the one known as Mequidra.[/glow]

Mequidra blinked at DarkUmbra. He felt fairly certain that he was getting to know too many people.
[glow=gold,2,300]"Yes . . . I am familiar with you. Those with me are called Cethyn, a member of a species I have not encountered to date, and Kruck, a human. Both are harmless."[/glow]
[glow=gold,2,300]Or if they are agressive, they are at least incapable of hurting anything.[/glow]
The shapeshifter looked at everyone present. A sense of urgency was welling up within him; he needed to know what was going on with his race. But to do that, he would need these people alive . . .

(Lol, Sol)
"Peh...." Kruck did not care that Mequidra said this, he knew he was powerful and did not need to prove it to anyone.
He looked around at the dingy place they were now in.
"What are we going to do now, Meq?" Kruck inquired, turned towards him.

The shapeshifter turned his eyes to the roof of the cavern. He was uncertain how to get outside of the mountain from here.
[glow=gold,2,300]"I need to be on top of the mountain, and I need to be outside of it. Either someone suggests a door or we go through the ceiling. Both are acceptable."[/glow]
Mequidra suddenly realized that he had not been called by his full name, or even by his shortened name. He was not even used to being called Mequidra.
[glow=gold,2,300]Meq? Mequidra is already shorter than my full name. Mmm. But 'Meq' will suffice if the humans need it to.[/glow]

DarkUmbra "looked" around. He saw the vent closed by shadow magic. Not a good idea. He then "looked" at the party. He thought he might recognize the one Mequidra had called "Kruck", but Cythen was new to him.
Kruck, do I know you? Oh well. Let me advise against the ceiling lest what happened to me with the vent happen to you Mequidra becuase although I was merely cold, you would indoubly be frozen solid. However, if you think you can take it. . .
He began to peel away the vent.

Mequidra, without pausing to think, shot a spire of his arm around the vent, preventing DarkUmbra from moving it.
[glow=gold,2,300]"This is not very good. I need to be able to keep warm while I am up there. Any suggestions?[/glow]
Mequidra was rather put off by the new problem. He couldn't exactly put on a coat.

DarkUmbra considered the matter amusingly. He then looked serious and spoke.
I could create a dome of shadows. You coudn't see, so you'd have to trust me, and it wouldn't last long. But it would keep the current warmth. Would that be acceptable?

All through this time, Cethyn had been listnening to the conversation at hand, keeping his peace. He was not entirely certain that Mequidra was entirely correct in calling him "harmless", but he cared little.
All the better if they underestimate us.
He was what might be considered alarmed by Mequidra's suggestion of going through the ceiling--he found his joints creaking in the current cold, and was fairly certain that a temperature drop, even by a few degrees, just might kill him. And the macabre white flakes that had drifted down when the shadow being broke the vent had been disturbing. However, this new suggestion by the entity called DarkUmbra seemed far more promising. Despite the discomfort of the current temperature, Cethyn was still alive, and could operate within it, whereareas the outside cold would likely kill him.
"If we must go outside, then we suggest that we follow this 'DarkUmbra's' advice."

DarkUmbra, seeing that the creatures were actually conemplating his idea, immediately withdrew his shroud and shrank to the shadows to meditate. He began to chant, and the room got gradually darker and darker. He continued to increase his power.

[glow=gold,2,300]"I will agree with DarkUmbra."[/glow]
Mequidra shivered slightly. A solid shapeshifter was not good. They could destroy an entire planet beginning with just one, but when it got colder than seven degrees, that was the end of them.

Kruck looked around with a small look of wonder on his face, however it was not easily seen, he hid most of his emotions well, that is if he really wanted to. Suddenly, something the shadow creature had said interested him.
"Kruck, do I know you?"
That was what the creature had said, he was certain of it. How would he know me? I would've remebered if I met someone like him. Hmph, he'd better not try something on me.
Kruck vowed to be a little more cautious around the shadow guy. Waiting for the creature to finish whatever it was doing, he shifted from one foot to the other and tried to contain his impatience.

DarkUmbra continued to meditate. Words in a foriegn toung long forgotten came forth. They symbolized the hate and evil of his ancient race, stood for death and destruction. He embraced the rage enstilled within him to bring forth a power of immeasurable magnitude. Evil was emminating from all around him such that the very walls shook.
Suddenly a MASSIVE blast of black energy flowed from within him to the center of the room where it condesed into a perfectly smooth ball. And such a color it was that it was so far darker than black it was unimagineable. A small spiral in one side began to get beigger until finally, there was a hole large enough for any humanoid to get into.
[glow=purple,2,300]HURRY! Once inside I will have a mere two or three hours. By human calculations I may travel at speeds of two hundred, what was it? Miles per hour? Anyway you must direct me Mequidra, as your's is the only form of communication that can be "heard" from within the orb. Everybody in.[/glow]
