Rayan, UTTERLY OBLIVIOUS to Tari's desires, continued to drag on with the war conversation.
"Marine, huh? I guess that means you won't need to join up with me, since you'll see plenty of action as it is......"
Rayan paused for a moment, and then said, "Hey, I've got an idea......you blow off the Marines and come stow away with me!" Rayan began to laugh at his own stupid idea. He wasn't serious...though, then again, he DID want Tari to join him.
"Well, I guess if there's no place in your life for me, I suppose I'll go back to my airship and fighter and have some fun doing dangerous and suicidal stunts in the air. Too bad you're so dedicated to duty..." Rayan said, in a half mocking sort of way. "If you wanted to live for a change, you could come join up with me...Danger seems to follow me around. I like to keep it on a leash and go on walks. It's pretty exciting to blast through the air so fast that you can't even see......Don't you think?"
Rayan grinned again, waiting for Tari to take the bait...

Tari shot Rayan an offensive look, "Dedicated to my duty? Yes, I am. It's the way I've been brought up and if you don't like, then screw you. If I don't want to join then I don't want to. I already have things going for me at the moment."
Tari was easily offended and she especially hated it when people made her feel guilty for being a Marine.
A fire danced in her eyes, and anger crept over her face. Her body tensed and she paced away uneasily. Her stride was short and sweet, getting her away quickly. Sehe tossed her blonde hair to another shoulder, hands deeply inbedded in her coat pockets.
[glow=pink,2,300]Gosh, some people don't know when to shut up.[/glow]
Her feet swept over the ground, sending and driving her forward. Her face was nothing, but an over-whelming frown.

Rayan chuckled, both at himself, and at the way Tari was so easily offended.
"Hey, don't get mad! I was saying that in a joking manner! It's not like I'm trying to force you into anything! You have your life to live, and you can live it any way you please. If you're offended, I apologize, and I understand if you're angry at me. I guess I'm just not set out to understand such complex and wonderful creatures as yourself..." Rayan said, with a slight gleam in his eye and mischief in his mind.
"Well, I guess if you don't like me right now I can just leave. See ya."
Rayan began walking...no, more like skipping back over in the direction his airship was in. He half expected Tari to change her feelings about him and accept his apology, and then ask him to stay. But he knew that it was equally likely for her not to care...In which case he would still remain a happy fool, he would just have to spend his time elsewhere, no big deal. Rayan figured that if she wanted him, great. If not, no big loss, he wasn't cut out for much success anyway.
So as it was, Rayan continued his way towards his airship to take a refreshing ride through the starlit night sky...

Tari stopped, but never turned back. She was too angry to call him back, yet she lingered to talk to him. She bit her lip in hard thought. Her brows drew close together as she began contemplating on what to do.
She stood there firmly, not looking back, nor saying a word.
[glow=pink,2,300]Way to go Tari! Blow him off, now I'll never see him again, but what difference does it make? There was nothing there.[/glow]
Tari encouraged herself forward, yet something told her to turn back. One foot slid forward and slowly another. She got about twelve paces before stopping yet again.
She laughed at herself for being such a fool for somebody like that. How could she have been so blind? She had no chance in the world, yet this didn't disgourage her. Like most things, this made her only stronger, emotionally.

Rayan continued to bound cheerfully to his airship. It wasn't very far off, and reached it in a matter of minutes. Then he leaned up against it and waited. No Tari. He continued to wait patiently. Still no Tari.
Rayan slumped down in the grass and held his head in his hands. Crap... he thought, knowing that Tari wasn't following him. I just blew it. I thought she might forget her anger and come to realize I wanted her to act just a little ridiculously happy, but she didn't. I can't go back to her- NEVER go back to a woman when she has made up her mind to be angry. I don't think I'll ever see her again...
Rayan's thought drifted for a moment, as he looked up one last time into the night sky...
Curse you, Rayan...if you weren't such an idiot, you could have pulled it off. Now you just hurt her feelings. You're a jerk. She's a marine...you're pathetic compared to her. You haven't engaged in a full-out ground battle in your life, only space combat. Heck, I won't doubt that IF I ever see her again, she's going to beat the tar out of my stupid, moronic face...

Rayan crossed his hands upon his chest and gazed into the night sky. His mind reflected upon Tari...
Sigh...there's no hope for me. I really had feelings for her...but...ah, it might as well be that way. I can't just abandon Kami, can I? Rayan thought, feeling a tinge guilty about who his real girlfriend was supposed to be.
..........Can I? I mean, I haven't seen her for quite a long time. You'd think that if she really loved me that she'd try to see me more often. Has she left me? And does it make a difference either way? I mean, what does it matter? This is my life, and I can do what I want with it. I think...
Rayan rolled on his side, uneasy about the choice he had to make inside his heart.
Maybe I'm just using her absence as an excuse to leave her? How do I know that she won't return? If she did, what would this do to our relationship? I can't just spurn her for not being here. That......that just wouldn't be right.
Rayan plucked out a flower from the lush grass he lay beside. He delicately picked the flower apart, as if he were picking his brain.
...What is right? Nothing is as it should be. The cruel and unjust reign, and the peaceful and pure are condemned. This accursed realm is backwards...the opposite of how it should be. Just like Nicari, my old home...I'll bet that it's like that everywhere. Oh, what's the use? No matter what I do, I'll always suffer. Why should I try to start something with Tari? It won't work. It...just...won't. I might as well think about something else.
With his new resolution in mind, Rayan got into the cockpit of his airship. He fired up the engines, and soon he was lifting off.
Farewell, Tari. It's too bad I'm no good for you. I never was, and I never shall Rayan thought as his ship was about ten feet off the ground, and readying for complete departure.

Tari sat silently upon a large boulder. Her legs were pulled up close to her chin, eyes gazing out at the vast meadows.
Her mind was a tangle of thought, but one by one they fell into complete thoughts. Her hair hung on her back. Her hands lay flat upon the solid rock, and the cool night air grazed her face.
[glow=pink,2,300]I have no hope for love. It won't happen to me ever again. All I have is the Corps. I can't forget Diego like that, he was my life. It's hard to let that go. I've never been anything without him, only with him did I feel like somebody, only with him did I feel loved. I can't and won't forget him. [/glow]
Her thoughts ran through the sky. She leaned back on the rock, elbow propping her up. Her jacket was unzipped and allowed for the breeze to storm in. She desperately wanted to drift off into another place, she didn't want to feel this anymore.
Her whole life had been busy and over-whelming, and this guilt feeling didn't help. She buried her face within her coat and closed her eyes, trying to no-longer see her life as it was.
