Name: Llafrodedd Angantirr (lah-froh-deth ang-an-teer) or, more commonly, Longshanks
Race: Longshanks is an Orion, a race of tall hominids with massive feathery wings like those often pictured on angels stretching from their broad shoulders. The Orions are technologically advanced, indeed the most advanced civilization in their particular corner of space. They are engaged in a War of Extermination against the Cython, who share their home star. Neither race can gain the advantage needed to eradicate the other, and thus the Great War rages ever on, unending and terrible. Most Orions are naturally telepathic, but not Longshanks (see below).
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown (older than Cethyn)
Alignment: Generally good
Appearance: Over six feet tall, Longshanks cuts an imposing figure with his ebony black trench coat and chestnut hair blowing in the wind, his massive raven-like wings reaching into the air and increasing the intimidation of his appearance. His grey-blue eyes are hidden beneath bangs that reach halfway down his nose, and a thick beard of auburn-tinged hair graces his chin. Though often hidden under his thick shock of hair, his ears are long and pointed like those of elves. He is lanky in the extreme, tall, with lengthy legs that give him his nickname, and long arms that end in broad hands, often engulfed in the deep pockets of his trench coat.
Personality: Longshanks is a good-natured, cheerful character, always ready to laugh and smile. He enjoys a good joke, and is always ready to hear another, though not necessarily always ready to relate one (other races don't often get Orion humor). Longshanks also believes deeply in the values of honor and chivalry--these views are augmented by his values as an Orion and a counter-assassin. Cheerful as he is, though, Longshanks is capable of a fell and terrible wrath, especially when confronted with wanton destruction of life or beauty. Fortunately, he is slow to anger, and forgiving if not already incensed beyond reason.
History: One of the rare Orions born with empathy rather than telepathy, Longshanks was an instrumental counter-assassin, foiling many of the Cythons' attempts to assassinate various top Orion officials. When the Orions discovered the existence of a new breed of assassin-caste Cython (Cethyn), Longshanks volunteered to hunt it down before it could wreak any havoc. His ship was launched after the assassin's vessel in direct pursuit. His vessel has finally reached Fyia, a little after Cethyn's ship did, and now the Orion will seek the death of his unknowing enemy.
Weapon/Items: Longshanks' favored weapon is his massive two-hand sword forged out of black adamantium. He wields it with great skill and speed, cutting his opponents to ribbons. If forced into long-range combat, he carries a small disruptor pistol capable of lethal damage and with which he is both proficient and accurate. Longshanks also carries about a small neural inhibitor that blankets his empathic powers and prevents him from feeling the emotions and sensations of others, though he rarely uses it and only under certain conditions (battle being the primary such situation).
Battle Skills: Longshanks is an expert swordsman, and is also proficient with various ranged weapons including guns of both the energy and slug-thrower types, as well as more archaic forms of missile weapons such as bows, crossbows, and slings. As an Orion, he also has limited regenerative properties, preventing otherwise mortal wounds from killing him outright, increased rate of healing, and healing such that scars do not form (bummer).
Flaws: Though extraordinarily useful, Longshanks' empathy often gets him into trouble, revealing emotions others want to keep hidden, preventing him from fighting in his own defence, or whatever. Furthermore, when Longshanks becomes wrathful, he becomes oblivious to anything but the application of vengeance or justice or whatever to that which has sparked his fury.
Other: Longshanks has empathic powers, and is able to feels emotions and various other sensory perceptions of other sentient beings. He is also able to project his own emotions and feelings in a similar fashion, though he does this sparingly. This ability works within a range of several hundred feet, and he is able to extend the range even further by concentrating.
Friends: Mellira, Vahn, Firehawk, Triunis
Enemies: Mahandronis/Setthirosa (Longshanks is not entirely clear on this particular issue--he's not certain exactly how to think of this being)
Lover: None as yet.
