((you and Darkumbra have similar problems, methinks))
Replying to Alexander's querries, Cethyn stated simply, "We are Cython." Turning to the other being that had addresseed him, Cethyn recognized the DarkUmbra being from Corvina. "Hail, DarkUmbra. We are Cethyn, and indeed we were at Corvina."
Cethyn wondered what to do. He had no purpose; the Overseer was silent. He wasn't even certain of why he was here. It had simply been along the path, he supposed, though why he'd started wandering he didn't know. Perhaps these beings, especially Alexander, would prove as interesting as Mequidra and Kruck had.

((hey, what about me?))
DarkUmbra winced every time Cythen said "we" something. What did that mean. If he continued his life wouldn't mean anything as well as his saying we. Oh well. What to do now? DarkUmbra still drew a blank in his mind.

((You are boring.))
Cython. Not in the scrolls, I am certain. They must be ancient or distant . . .
"Well, Cethyn, if you want something from me, don't hesitate to ask."
He looked up at DarkUmbra.
"So what are you doing? You seem pretty quiet, my shadowy friend . . ."

[glow=purple,2,300]Nyetch? Sorry. I have now my emotions under total control and as such, am infinitely calmer than I was awhile ago.[/glow]
DarkUmbra was engrossed in thoughts at the moment. He suddenly realised that he was not in his shadowy-cold ritual place, but instead with company. He jerked out of his trance-like state and 'looked' around.

Alexander smiled faintly. He couldn't remember being this happy. Then again, there wasn't much he could remember . . .
"DarkUmbra, what is going on with you? You seem like something is always troubling you . . ."
Alexander was an angel-born, and as such, was trained to deal with physical, psychological, spiritual, and magical difficulties. As such, he figured that there was little the shadow-man could say to surprise him.

DarkUmbra looked surprised that Alexander could have known this. Usually people just think that he's wierd. He realised that Alexander was no ordinary creature. True, he already knew that, but whatever.
[glow=purple,2,300]Your senses continue to amaze me my friend. All my life, I have been burdened by tormenting memories of past experiences. Untill just recently I have found it nearly impossible to control them. However at the moment, I am free of thier burden. . .for now. Thusly, I am able to focus on the task at hand. . . which issssss?[/glow]

"I'm an angel-born, not an adventurer. I get time off. I'll do what I please . . ."
Alexander slowly slid down the trunk of his trees, closing his eyes and smiling. He continued to speak to DarkUmbra.
"Pasts are something to be remembered, but sometimes you've got to forget what happened in them. Of course, sometimes you've got to remember . . . "
Alexander chuckled quietly to himself. He then remembered he was still talking.
"Anyway. What I'm trying to say is, you must not take your past as a sign of your present . . ."
The angel-born's eyes shot open as he felt a twinge of pain. He knew full well what it was, as well . . .
[glow=Blue,2,300]You are an angel-born! Your task is protection and retrobution! You have no buisness telling people to forget their pasts![/glow]

DarkUmbra looked bothered with this comment. But he did nothing to show it. Alexander did not understand. He would have to be educated.
[glow=purple,2,300]Possibly if I were human I might agree with you. However my power is drawn from two sources. One is obviously the shadows. The second is past experiences, emotions, and memories that I chant to evoke. As a result my emotions, and memories torment and haunt me. That is the abridged version of my story. Don't ask about the long one.[/glow]

Alexander opened hsi eyes abruptly and turned to DarkUmbra.
"A wretched past, and power that is drawn from it. What evolutionary . . . "
. . .monstrosity is that?
The angel-born refrained from letting the comment slide past his lips, but he was thinking it. Everyone did things they didn't want to remember; having to conjure up these memories to attack was horrid.
"Obviously, not something I am familiar with. But . . . to each his own. So why are you on Fyia? How'd you get here?"

DarkUmbra winced as the memories came flooding back to him in full powerful force. He collapsed to the ground clutching his head. He stood up. 'Looked' at Alexander and said,
[glow=purple,2,300]Let us. . . not speak of my past how about?[/glow]

[glow=blue,2,300]Let him have his way, but be wary. His past will matter be of capital importance to you in the future.[/glow]
Alexander shivered. He knew his essence could see the future to some extent, and wondered just what kind of importance DarkUmbra's would be to him.
"Your choice."
He stood up and stretched, cracking his wings loudly.
"These trees are so nice. You don't see many trees like this where I come from . . ."

Had he been capable of amusement, Cethyn would undoubtedly have been very amused with the conversation that had just passed before him. Such odd beings these were that placed sentimental value on their memories. Memories were there only to look back upon and increase efficiency by learning from past experiences and mistakes. They were nothing more than electrical patterns and chemicals in the brain. One Cython's memory was passed on to the rest of the hive through the collective mind so that its experiences could be used to increase Hive efficiency. Cethyn himself could remember all the way back to the first Cython crawling out of itheir hole, though mostly only through simple feelings.
Cethyn shook himself free of his reverie. The conversation had ended, and the angel born Alexander was speaking of trees. "On Orion Prime there are no trees. There is very little plant life at all in fact, for the planet is little more than a baking inferno littered with the husks and carcasses of the billions of creatures that crawl about its night side, riddled with the holes that lead into the depths of our Hives. We have never seen such trees as these, though we can remember from various invasions the trees that were rent by the maws of our Cython warriors."

Alexander shivered. He was remembering things he didn't know he knew.
"You Cython sound more and more like the Creeds with everything I hear about you. The only difference is you sound more like assassins as opposed to . . . what the Creeds are . . ."
He shivered again as he thought of the few times he'd visited the Creed's hive. All the insects, swarming everywhere they could, spitting venom and hissing orders to one another. He deeply wished he couldn't remember that.

There was a very negative energy about the room. DarkUmbra, it being one of his happy days, tried to lighten the mood. They were male, perhaps they took amusment in the useless jokes of pure testosterone like the humans.
[glow=purple,2,300]. . . and for a second, I thought I was gay! But then I realised, I was looking in a mirror!![/glow]

((You know we're not in a room, right?))
Alexander slowly blinked.
" . . . Is that a joke . . . ?"
It wasn't that the intruil had no grasp of humor, it was just that most of the species in the Alliance had an equal attraction for both genders. most chose to go with the opposite gender for propagation purposes, but nevertheless, it took him a few seconds to register the joke from a human point of view.
"Ah. I see. Very, err . . . deep. Or something."
He smiled. Humor was not his strong point, nor that of any intruil. The Makaans, now they were funny folk. When they weren't sacrificing people.
"Err, I'm afraid I don't know any jokes . . ."
