((Cont. again . . . Feel free to join in, guys.))
A basket full of food clasped tightly in one hand, and the hand of DarkUmbra in the other, Kathryn wondered if she had ever been quite so happy.
Not for ages . . .
A natural smile, which she couldn't have hidden if she wanted to, played on Kathryn's lips and reflected again in her eyes. She felt as if she was walking on air, next to her . . . to her what? Her love? Her admiration?
Anyways, the one whom she could call her soulmate. "See, I told you that this would be a great place for a picnic," she said to nobody in particular. She didn't even remember telling DarkUmbra where they were going, they just . . . went.

DarkUmbra had no idea where they were going. He just, went along. It didn't matter either way. He would follow Kathryn to death. He had been here before. Only this time, it was infinitly more enjoyable. Being with Kathryn was infinitly more enjoyable than anything. He brought her hand in close to him and squeezed it just for a second to show his admiration. DarkUmbra pointed to a nearby hill with a large tree, and spoke softly but exitedly.
[glow=purple,2,300]How about over there?[/glow]
DarkUmbra was still worried about this eating thing, but Kathryn would not decieve him. He trusted her enought to do anything. Eating would be fine.

Kathryn's smile widened as he pulled her even closer to himself. They continued walking, towards the spot underneath the tree which DarkUmbra had picked out. They sat in the shade, for, whether he knew it or not, Kathryn was still a little worried about the sunlight.
She placed the basket on the ground, opened it carefully, and removed a small red checkered blanket. She smiled. "Room enough for two."
She once more reached into the basket and pulled out a bottle of red wine and two glasses. She placed the glasses gently on the ground, and proceeded to fill them with the Ammontillado. She swirled hers around in the glass for a second, to release the taste. She grabbed the other glass and handed it to DarkUmbra, before going and curling up next to him.
"Here you are, my love."

DarkUmbra loved the feeling of Kathryn's warmth, which was odd, against him. He pulled her closer and moved closer himself. He too swirled the wind as she had done. Him not sure why though.
[glow=purple,2,300]Thank you beloved. This should be interesting. What is this substance called?[/glow]
He eyed the liquid skeptically, and then remembered who had given it to him, and downed it. The initial taste he liked, but he assumed that that was not the way to consume it as he began coughing fits. He quickly stopped, and looked at Kathryn lovingly. He put his head down on her lap, and 'looked' up into her eyes.
[glow=purple,2,300]Cough! Perhaps, that's not how I drink it. Is it for drinking slowly and savoringly? I love you.[/glow]

Kathryn brought the glass up to her lips carefully and took a small sip. She forced herself to swallow, instead of spewing it all over the place as DarkUmbra nearly killed himself with his. "It's called wine, and, yes, you're supposed to drink it slowly. Savor it. Like so."
She raised the glass again and took a small sip. She closer her eyes and enjoyed the sweet, yet bitter taste of the wine in her mouth. It was perfect. She swallowed it and looked back down at DarkUmbra.
And you might want to sit up, too, but don't move . . .
She reached for the wine bottle and refiled his glass, steadying it by placing her hand over his. She shifted slightly, and leaned down, brushing her lips lovingly across his forhead.

DarkUmbra learned something new today. Wine is not for chugging. He set the glass down and ran his fingers through Kathryn's hair. He wanted to try the 'wine' again, but not half as much as he wanted to not move and not have Kathryn move. He continued to run his fingers though Kathryn's beautifully smooth soft hair. He loved the feel of it in his hand. He loved the feeling of Kathryn's lips on his forhead even more.
[glow=purple,2,300]Yes, picnics are decidely. . .good.[/glow]
He did not want anything to change. If something happened to Kathryn. . . he would have no more reason to live. She was the first thing he had ever cared about.

The mage relaxed slightly and leaned into DarkUmbra the best that she could. "Yes. Good.," she repeated jovially. Having her hair stroked made her so incredibly comfortable that it was hard to even try to think about something negative. Or maybe it was just DarkUmbra's presence that was causing that inner peace.
"Tell me if you get hungry," she said placidly. "We have some really great things to eat." Her eyelids were starting to feel heavy, but she ignored it to the best of her ability. It was probably just the wine. She smiled and took another sip out of her glass. With her fingertips, she started tracing DarkUmbra's ear, in a loving, passionate way. They were connected again.
Mmm . . . so . . . happy . . .
She closed her eyes in order to be able to savor the moment.

DarkUmbra noticed that Kathryn's eyes were drooping. He switched positions very smoothly and now had Kathryn in his lap still stroking her hair. He took a sip of wine, a small one. He like the bitter flavor that seemed to fade away. He laced the fingers of one hand through Kathryn's while still running one hand through her hair. He too felt, sleepy was it. This was another new emotion to him. He wondered what to do. Sleep seemed accurate, but not untill Kathryn was happy and dozing.
[glow=purple,2,300]Go ahead and sleep my love. I only seek to make you comfortable.[/glow]
DarkUmbra said in a soft, loving voice. He quickly kissed Kathryn's lips as a little more inscentive to sleep.

Kathryn's eyeldis fluttered and she opened them to a soft gaze. She was staring up at DarkUmbra, and everything felt absolutly . . . perfect. He leaned down and kissed her and she kissed him back, softly. She was so tired . . .
It's been a long two days.
She squeezed his hand gently and moved ever so slightly in his lap. She felt truly safe lying there with him, but she really didn't want to fall asleep in the middle of their date . . .
"Tell me more about yourself," she said drowsily, allowing her eyelids to remain shut for some 'rest'.

DarkUmbra said nothing. He saw that Kathryn needed sleep, and even he himself could use some meditation. He rested his head on Kathryn's and began to sing in a foreign toung long forgotten.
[glow=red,2,300]Logil-laagnoklua. Ogitnaggganita. Ilmateionliagta. Opliganata. Eeoglanition. Tiatonlighata.[/glow] ((yes the red glow is purposeful))
He continued in the soft quiet voice reciting words to a song he had never heard in a language he had forgotten how to speak. Kathryn had inspired the new song within him and he was not stopping soon. He felt the warm figure of his beloved soul-mate in his lap, and her hair in his fingers. He began to enter a dream world, still singing though.

Kathryn felt her mental self falling though layers of conciousness into sleep. An angel sat next to her, singing a song of forgotten beauty.
She smiled and the angel took her hand. She lead the mage down a corridor containing many doors. A strange red glow surrounded the angel, beautiful and elegant. A child dressed in white greeted her, blond hair untied, and falling across her shoulders. The angel disappeared and Kathryn followed the young girl down the halls. As they walked along, Kathryn noticed that the child seemed to ba aging with every step. She grew, and her hair darkened to a brown. The child- like innosense was lost and her eyes seemed to have seen far too much for their time.
The girl started crying, silent tears running down her pale cheeks and settling on the collar of her shirt. They were slow at first, but they started to come faster and faster until Kathryn was sure that she was going to start crying as well, there was just so much misery. They still didn't seem any closer to the end of the hallway.
She saw the doors grow taller and taller as they went along. As if the mage and the girl next to her were merely pawns in some sort of cosmic game. Suddenly, a great pain filled up her chest, as if she was longing for something that she could not have. Her compainion stopped walking, and stared at one of the doors. She opened it up and stepped inside.
Kathryn, not really knowing what else to do, turned back and followed the woman in to the room. The woman turned around and grabbed her by the throat, lifting the mage off of the ground. Kathryn gasped and clawed at air, before kicking the woman in the shins so hard that she was forced to drop her. She sat there, kneeling on the ground, clutching her throat as the room swirled around her, changing from light to shadowed.
She screamed out in frustration, and it suddenly became very cold. She grabbed at her arms and noticed bruises all along them. She curled up, trying to keep herself warm, but not really succeeding. A wry smile hung on her lips, the same smile that she always had, for it was impossible for Kathryn, of all people, to feel pain. To be human. To wish, for just a second that she could just run away . . . An uncomfortable tingling sensation pulled at the corner of her eyes, and she blinked them repeatedly.
Her physical body was completly at peace, despite a few groans. She accidentally pushed her glass of wine over, but it spilled away from her, not harming anything but the tablecloth. She squeezed DarkUmbra's hand and pulled it over to her stomach in her own little subconcious way of making sure that he was still there.

((Nyetch. Long. Post. But. Awsome.))
DarkUmbra felt his physical being slipping away. Almost as if he had begun to leave that part of himself when he met Kathryn and the process was nearly complete. But that could not have been the case for Kathryn made him complete, whole, and so how could he be an entire entity without his physical self? As the thoughts came to him, he began to drift back into reality, but not quite all the way.
He continued to sing his song of love, even while only semi-consious, a song that told him that Kathryn, even if only in the dream world, was not happy. All at once he let go of everything that he had ever known to be 'real' and was envellopped in darkness. However it was not the physical darkness that he had been so well accustomed to, but the spirtiual darkening of leaving his physical self.
He collapsed against something hard, and 'looked' around. It seemed almost real, however there was a strange light emminating from everything. This light would burn him he could tell with out trying. Also there was the dull-glow of an altar-reality that becomes apperent only after consciousness is regained.
Somewhere he heard a scream, Kathryn's scream. He had no real way of knowing this, he just did. He sensed the extreme sadness coming from the room at the end of the hall. He dashed down the corridor fliting from shadow to shadow untill he reached the door. He pushed it open to reveal a circular room, with a figure collapsed in the center. There was another figure, this one trying to injure the fallen. The fallen was Kathryn he knew.
How could he reach her? The light that seemed even more painful than being right next to a sun, was only broken by a mere two feet of shadows around the edges. DarkUmbra had no time to think though, he called her name as loudly as he could and began to dash to the center of the room.
He cried out in pain as his flesh was torn from him by the light that he feared so much. Halfway there, two thirds dead. He continued running, no skin now, but it wasn't in any way disturbing, somehow, it looked. . .right. The light began to break his bones. He reached Kathryn and at the same time fell, nothing left to support himself, nothing left at all, but still there, he collapsed at Kathryn's feet.
He awoke at once with a startling jolt. He was still singing the song, only now he had totally returned to his physical self. He could not remember what had just happened. And suddenly it all came flooding back to him.
Departure from reality.
Dream reality.
Sadness.
Light.
Caring.
Sacrifice for love.
Death.
He cried the cry of pain and of greiving and as he 'looked' at himself he saw the burns, the first initial burns that had started his demise in the altar-world. He stopped yelling just as abruptly as he had started and began to cry. Silent tears pouring down his face.
((This one's long too. It's one of my best because I'm depressed, I write well when I'm depressed. Well okay, I'm not as depressed as I have been, thank you Geneva, but a little.))

As she sat there on the icy floors of the, mentally and spiritually broken, she heard an angelic cry. The cry of hope, help, and all things that are good. She lifted her head, despite the amount of energy that she lost to do so. Numbness ate away at the tiny bones of her body, and she could almost feel herself falling into that oblivion which is the darkness of the human soul.
But I'm not human . . . and never will I get the chance to be . . . Just as I don't really get the chance to do much . . . to love, to live for me . . . it's all for someone else . . .
She almost started sobbing again, when all of a sudden, the body of the angelic voice came within her vision. It was costing him a lot to reach her, she knew, and as he finally was close enough, he seemed to just . . . collapse at her feet. She extended a hand to him, for she was sure that he was someone that she knew well, but as soon as he had gotten there, he was gone, a mere figment of her emotional imagination.
No, there was no one there for her. Never had. Never would be . . . Silent tears slipped down her cheeks and crystalized before reaching her chin. She shuddered from the cold as her concious mind tried desperatly to wrench her out of alternate-reality.
And just like that it was gone. The sun was out, the birds were chirping, and she was alone. She opened her eyes dosily and then a smile lit up her face. It was going to be okay. She could carry on fr- "DarkUmbra! Are you okay?"
The angel . . .
There were burns running up and down his arms, and tears were pouring down his face. The wine had been spilt and things were just a general mess. Kathryn crawled over to him as quickly as her half-asleep legs would take her and she wrapped her arms around him, trying the best that she could to comfort him. She sang a song of healing, one that seemed to lock right in to his song of love. They twined togeather and seemed to grow on each other, as Kathryn began a gentle swaying motionto calm the boy.

DarkUmbra awoke from his trance-like state of greiving as soon as he heard Kathryn's voice. He held her in his arms and squeezed her so tightly momentarilly. He began nervously running his fingers through her hair. She was here now, he was okay. But the tears did not stop. He did not know why and he could not control it.
[glow=purple,2,300]Kathryn. . . but. . .how? A dream, it must have been a dream! But then why the burns, what's going on? Kathryn are you okay?[/glow]
DarkUmbra said in a slow, scared voice. If this was sleeping he'd had enough of it. He held Kathryn closer and took in the reality of the moment, but then, the dream had also been so real, how did he even know if anything was real anymore? He pulled her in even closer.

Kathryn whispered gently to DarkUmbra, relaxing against his body in a comforting way. "It's okay. Shhhh, it'll be alright. It was just a dream." she smiled and lightly touched one of the burns on his arms.
"Perhaps it's time to go," she decided. They could go somewhere dark, where he would be okay . . . She reached up and touched his face, smoothing away his tears, and kissed his lips softly. "I'm here. I love you. It'll be okay."
Yes. It will all be okay.
She continued to very gently trace his jawline, trying her best to comfort him. Tears were a painful thing, even if there were all part of healing.
