The ground was damp from the morning dew, and the sun was barely beginning to creep over the horizon. Muddy boots tromped lightly to the top of a hill, and there was a soft thump as Setthirosa sat down hard in the grass. He looked at the sun, looked at the blanket of navy-blue night behind him, and sighed.
All the light does is show what evil the darkness hid . . . it does nothing to improve matters, only makes them more hopeless . . .
He slumped on his back, tail twitching under the pressure of his body. His eyes closed behind his blue goggles, sighing again. A teardrop welled up in the corner of an eye, and slid down to be trapped in the side of his goggle lens.
I screwed up so bad . . . Mahandronis ruined me, Rift's gone to Gaea-knows-where, Mequidra, Taiyuku, and Tserugi betrayed me . . . what can I do, where can I go to make up for the hell I've caused?

Sumi was confused. Her sister had sliced their connection and was avoiding her at all costs, but why? The question couldn't be answered in her mind, so she continued walking through the foliage. Her wandering foot steps led her to the top of a hill, golden with the morning light. The blinding light caused her to look away and snap on her shades, allowing no light to reach her delecate eyes. Another curse set apon her.
She turned from the briliant sunrise, only to realize that she was not the only one on the hill. There was another, one with a tail and blue goggles. Sumi raised an eyebrow, curious to the creature's motives. She opened her mind and evesdropped gently, managing to hear '...Mahandronis ruined me...'.
Those few words set her back, causing her to trip over a mere twig and fall, quite loudly, into a bush.
[glow=purple,2,300]'Perfect...'[/glow] she thought to herself sarcasticly.

Setthirosa stood up like a shot, already pulling his most powerful magic in around himself.
Mahandronis may have destroyed who I am, but he taught me Final Evangelia. I'm safe from whatever this planet has to offer.
Slowly, he strode over to the bush, a ball of silver magic curled around one hand and the Euphrates in the other, loaded and ready to fire. He looked down into the shrub, pointing his shotgun down and holding the spell off to the side.
"Well, what have we here?"

Sumi sensed his surge of energy and winced. Fear just barely showed as he came into her view. His blue goggles seemed to have an energy of themselfs, but the small drop of water rolling around showed a weakness. The Vampiress closed her eyes and sighed, Blinking out of existance for a mere moment before blinking in again a yard or so behind him.
[glow=purple,2,300]"You have nothing. I mean you no harm, I actually need your help."[/glow]
Her hands raised to the sky, a sign of submittance in the human culture. She swallowed and smiled weakly at Setthirosa.

While his ball of magic had disappated, Setthirosa trained his gun on the creature as soon as she appeared behind him again.
"My help."
He stepped backwards slowly, placing his left hand in the inside of his trenchcoat and producing the Tigris, his other shotgun. This he also pointed at the girl he spoke to.
"Every time I've helped something, it's repayed me with pain and anger. Once I've been beaten and left for dead, once swarmed by creatures that you can't even imagine, and once even had my mind destroyed by a creature residing within me. What makes you better than any of them?"

Sumi dropped her head, gathering her words so that she could possibly her persona to him. She bit the left side of her lip, her Vamperic fang almost piercing skin.
[glow=purple,2,300]"I do not know those who have hurt you, but from what I have heard, I believe my intenstions stand purer than their's."[/glow]
She turned her head up and smiled, innocence showing through the pastale mask that too many had seen.

Setthirosa didn't move his guns, nor did he let his expression flicker. He didn't see much need in getting involved with someone like this again, but . . .
"Tell me what you want, and maybe I'll listen."

Sumi sighed, her balck eyes falling to her feet.
[glow=purple,2,300]"My sister has blocked me out, but I know her to well to let that hinder my tracking of her."[/glow]
She chewed her lip a bit, choosing her words carefully. His guns wouldn't hurt her unless one hit her in the heart, but she still wanted to be carefull none the less.
[glow=purple,2,300]"She is powerful and has allied with Mahandronis. I need to stop her from more destruction, and from what I know of Mahandronis and what I could sufficently get from Brook's mind, they are going to target Alexander and Keijina. You appear to know Manhandronis and have also been hurt by him. His taint is all over your aura. Will you help me?"[/glow]
She looked up to his face with pleading eyes. She needed help and the pain that her sister incurred would only hinder her. She needed someone who can at least predict Mahandronis' motives or she would be history, as well as Keijina and about half of the others on this planet.

Longshanks slept fitfully in a glen halfway across the fields. Tossing and turning, he almost rolled onto his back before his ebon wings, folded across his back, caused him to start rolling the other way.
In his dreams two figures bantered--about him, and Cethyn. Talking about emotions, babeling about their powers. They laughed together now, a strange laugh that sent shivers down the Orion's spine. It seemed that he sat in a room, on one side while the two figures--humanoid, but featureless and silvery, save their black eyes--spoke. Peering about, he saw on the other side of the room another humanoid, this one wrapped in a ragged scarlet trenchcoat and sporting large black goggles above which danced antennae. Cethyn! What then, was this place? A meeting of the worlds of the living and the dead? Or was Longshanks now dead? He did not want to die, but found the prospect was not so terrifying as it was when he was conscious . . . Suddenly, one of the silver creatures disappeared, and the other laughed to itself. Then it turned to look Longshanks directly in the eyes, and the Orion started awake . . .
Rolling to a sitting position in a way only a winged hominid would do it, Longshanks rubbed his grey eyes with one broad hand, the other still resting on the grass, feeling the emerald carpet beneath him contentedly. "What a strange dream," he muttered to himself as he stood up. Looking for his sword, he remembered that he'd left it behind, in the deserts. Shaking his head, ginger hair tossed aside from his handsome face for a moment before falling back into place, he continued on his way, humming an old tune to himself.
***********
"Heh heh heh heh heh . . ." The peculiar laugh echoed silently across the verdant plains stretching into infinity. The entity pulled itself together, drawing the distant energy of its being from the aura flowing about these great fields, putting itself together. At first a haze formed out of the empty air, a tentacled white mist spreading low over the ground. Then it drew together further, the mist rising up, forming a vague, humanoid figure. Finally, the body gained clarity, edges sharpening to define this new state of being. Its skin was silvery, but did not seem solid. It flowed about like quicksilver, miniscule eddies and currents swirling about, creating intricate patterns that never repeated themselves. Two obsidian eyes peered out from the featureless "face" of the head.
"So good . . . to exist again!" It's voice was a combination of several tones, ranging from bass to falsetto, all at once and creating a peculiar ambiance that echoed as the laugh had, without sound but within perception. Out of the energy flowing around the jade expanse surrounding it, the being noted the presence of other beings. One was that of the Orion, Longshanks, that had proved instrumental in the rebirth, but he was leaving, heading out across the fields, unaware of the new entity. However, there were two other creatures in the fields, creatures unknown to the new being, and they piqued its interest. Therefore, it allowed itself to dissipate and flow, like particles of air, almost a mist but just beyond visual perception, in the direction of these two unkown beings. They were discussing something in the native tongue, something called "Mahandronis" . . .

Sumi was pleading her case, waiting for this thing's response, but something else, something....powerful had just appeared.
Instantly, she rooted her feet and closed her eyes, snarling a little, showing abnormally sharp fangs. Her endless orbs flashed with longing, then anger, then confusion. She wished it was her sister, telling her that she just flattened some city, but the energy was not hers. It was, evil, with evil intentions, but it wasn't. She couldn't tell! Her senses darted about from one way to the next.
[glow=purple,2,300]:Gyre!:[/glow]
A black dot soared across the sky, screeching a welcom to Sumi. She relaxed a bit and looked up, the snarl turning into a smile.
[glow=purple,2,300]:Find the power, I want images.:[/glow]
The falcon shreiked again and was off, in no time, Sumi had images of the silvery, black eyed...thing. Her mind raced as she processed the pictures, however scetchy they were.
[glow=pink,2,300]:Sumimine! SilverSkin stole Gyre's pretty eyes!:[/glow]
The bird of prey swooped low again, low enough so that Setthirosa could see her magnificent crest feathers and seemingly never ending black orbs. With one last good bye call, she took to the high skies again, only to disappear in a tangle of twists and swoops.
Sumi turned to Setthirosa and relayed all she knew in a very summerised form.
[glow=purple,2,300]"There is a powerful something somewhere with silver skin and black eyes."[/glow]

Setthirosa sighed, spreading his guns outward and looking left to right. He brought in his left hand cautiously and pressed a button on the side of his goggles. As he did so, they lit up with a green light, and from within, Setthirosa looked out upon the world in terms of powerful and weak magical emissions.
He was startled; the creature before him emitted much more magic than he had predicted. But even more shocking was the high-energy presence that seemed almost to engulf the two of them. He cocked the Tigris and the Euphrates, and called out.
"Whoever's out there, I can see you! Take on a shape, so that we might continue this conversation face-to-face!"

The entity was surprised that these beings could sense it. Even see it, the one said. They were not as primitive as it had anticipated. The bizarre laughter echoed just within hearing again, pealing across the fields almost beyond perception. Again, mist began to congeal across the ground, growing its white tentacles out of the air itself, it seemed. Slowly, they rose up, in the form of a humanoid, and the silvery form of the entity stepped forth, obsidian eyes peering keenly at the two beings that stood before it.
"Heh heh heh heh heh . . ." It looked at the one with the pieces of technology in its hands. "Face-to-face; why? What is there to a face that you must see? Heh heh heh, silly being, this is but a mask worn without a face, for a face is something I lack." The distinct impression that the entity is grinning pervades the air while the silent echoes of its laughter dance around the fields.

Setthirosa grinned, but didn't put his guns away.
He sounds like Epsilon trying to puff himself up to scare away predators.
"I can't say you're presenting yourself as a friendly presence, whomever I'm speaking to. Some form of introduction would be nice. You, for one, can call me Setthirosa if you like."

"An introduction, eh? You want a name, a label by which to call me . . ." The entity stopped to think. How intriguing an idea; it had not thought of the possibility that it might call itself something. Thinking back, through Longshanks' memories, through all the memories it had access to, the entity wondered which one would fit. It decided to check through the Orion memories first, to see if there was anything interesting there by which to label itself, as it understood the Orions more than any other material species, having intruded so often into their minds. They were so dependant on their emotions, and therefore so easy to manipulate . . .
Searching the memories, the entity found the legend of a demon, repeated several times over by different Orions. Asmodeus they called it, and it appeared in a miasma when physically formed, but more often simply came to Orions in dreams, tempting them or killing them. The Lord of Nightmares, his epithet was, and the entity found this appealing, as well as highly appropriate, considering that "Nightmare" might be the most accurate description of its nature.
"You may call me . . . Asmodeus the Nightmare," it said, rolling the name around its material tongue and listening to the way it sounded. Highly appealing. Asmodeus now had a name, something it had never before had. How peculiar, it thought. Truly, the name does not sum up what I am, and yet it need only symbolize who I am, for I am me and it is not. Its mouthless grin grew broader. "But this other one has not provided its label. I know not what to call it."

Sumi pretty much stayed out of the conversation, gently examining the new being's upper layer thoughts. So, he was new to the concept of a name. Intriging. His name also peeked her interest.
[glow=purple,2,300]"Sumi. I am also a nightmare to many..."[/glow]
She ran her tounge over one of her fangs, looking to the ground in shame. The look quickly passed as she gathered herself and faced the thing.
[glow=purple,2,300]"I am not wishing to be blunt, but what are you doing here?"[/glow]
